Product Description

CD Description

2010 digital remaster of the classic album by Radha Krsna Temple.

The Radha Krsna Temple achieved unexpected hits in 1969 with Hare Krishna Mantra and the following year with its follow-up, the lovely "Govinda". The album, which was produced by George Harrison, was originally released in 1971 and first released on CD in 1993 with the addition of "Prayer To The Spiritual Masters", which had been the B-side to their first single. This title is retained for the new edition where it is joined by a new previously unreleased bonus track, "Namaste Saraswati Devi".

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime 11 Nov 2011
Format:Audio CD
Classic album. Timeless and truly sublime. One can never get tired of listening to this album and visualising the rawness of when and how this recording took place. The listener can feel the simplicity of the musical arrangement and really appreciate the beautiful mellow vocals. Thanks for re-producing. Hare Krishna!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven on Earth!!!! 15 Mar 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
i purchased this CD, after visiting The Radha Krishna Temple near Tottenham Court Road in London....

this CD is just HEAVENLY.... where Gregorian Chants, and other similar devotions tend to "grate on the nerves" after a while, these beautiful chants of the Hare Krishna's is just sooooo soothing and bring around a calmness and stillness in ones surroundings,as well as the heart and soul.... my only sadness is that the songs are very short, i wish they could last for hours and hours, as the peace one feels on listening to this CD is palpable, and soooo strong.
I, for one, cannot stop singing The Hare Krishna Mantra at all, i find im singing along to it, long after the CD has finished!!!! i would recommend this to EVERYONE, as it is just timeless and ageless, just BEAUTIFUL.... Hare Krishna!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and relaxing 7 Jun 2011
By Shawn Kennedy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am an ex-Hare Krsna. My parents brought me and my sisters in, back in '72. I remember first visiting the new york
temple, hearing the music and the incense burning. I was not happy when my parents told me we were joining the movement and have to go to their school. Believe or not, I still love this album, used to have it on vynyl, then on cassette, now finally on CD. I am no longer involved with the movement, too many bad apples, but I still love the music. This album I know at least three of the individuals performing on the album, my sisters probably knew more.
For those who are interested, I know that there are serious good Hare Krsnas out there, that being said there is also
still horrible individuals out there. I stay to myself and I am surprised I am writing this, but I am positive that
George and the rest of the Beatles met well and believed, as my parents did...just be careful if you are looking for
something or someone to follow. You can just enjoy the music and believe in the All Mighty and yes YOU CAN SAVE YOURSELF!!! Enjoy this album, I know I still do and I am glad I found it again, I will treasure it, after all it is
part of my youth

4.0 out of 5 stars Blissful Record of a Bygone Era 24 Mar 2012
By M. Chapman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a great record of a more innocent time in the 20th century when George Harrison was helping out other peaceniks and getting their music to the masses. I was 15 years old when this was released and remember loving Govinda as it sounded the closest to a (then) contemporary song. Now middle aged I still love this album but can now appreciate it in it's entirety. Om.

3.0 out of 5 stars Apple revisits the catalogue 31 Jan 2011
By CB - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
The Beatle's Apple catalogue was pretty diverse - from sixties soul to pop to folk to jazz and beyond, this album takes you to a place of chants - yes, Hari Krsna with all its associations. Taken as a snapshop of spiritual seekers in the sixties, the swirling Govinda lead track has a sense of earnest devotion. If you are in the mood, this album will have you seeking at least the incense burner in the house.

5.0 out of 5 stars REALLY glad to have found it available 17 Aug 2014
By Thomas Beach - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A classic. George seems to be the one of the Beatles that kept the spiritual path going. This CD, as did the original recording continues to uplift. REALLY glad to have found it available. (My earlier recording self-destructed!) It also serves as an historical perspective on the infusion of Indian spirituality in the 60's and 70's.
