I have so many recipe books that I don't really use - all veggie and vegan - tending to use the 'Ready Steady Cook' method of preparing meals from what is in the fridge; mostly successful, so when this book was advertised I wondered whether another recipe book would end up on the shelf, just like the others.

However - as I use Quorn quite a lot in its different forms, it has proved to be a great reference for a real range of usable ideas, both basic and unusual. I've used it so much more than I thought I would, for both weekday meals and for cooking for friends. I particularly was impressed by the biriyani recipe that is cooked completely in a microwave (again, a first for me) or the sweet potato and quorn loaf.

I'd really recommend this to both dedicated users of quorn or even to those non-veggies who may need to cook occasionally for veggie friends - the recipes are easy to follow and I am sure would work as much for non-veggies to eat.

I love the wide variety of Quorn products available but never really have any original ideas about how to use them in my cooking. My efforts normally culminate in adding the chicken-style pieces to stir fries or frying the sausages for breakfast (not exactly haute cuisine!) So I was very pleased to see the makers of Quorn publish their own cookbook filled with loads of wonderful recipes for their most popular products, including chicken-style pieces, mince, fillets and others.

I purchased this book hoping that it will get me eating more Quorn products and it does its job perfectly. The book is divided into the following sections:
Simple sharing snacks
Scrumptious light bites
Super duper soups
Midweek winners
Comforting classics
Lazy weekend recipes
Foodwith friends
A taste of takeaway
Little chefs

The recipes include a little bit of everything to suit all tastes and preferences. There are classics such as toad in the hole, spaghetti bolognese, pasta carbonara, and steak, ale and mushroom pie; there are Italian dishes like risotto, lasagna, pizza; Asian specilaties like stir fries, curries, and noodles; salads, ciabattas, casseroles, moussaka, tagine, burgers, soups. Lots of variety and fantastic ideas for using more Quorn; the mouthwatering pictures and great layout are an additional bonus. Definitely recommend to all Quorn fans.

This is an odd one for me. Firstly because I don't normally review cookery books, but more importantly because I love eating meat. I really like eating meat and don't normally like veggie options. That is why this book has become so important in my household. My wife is a vegetarian and so to avoid too many meals being cooked I do eat meals without meat. It does not mean that I will accept food that I don't enjoy the taste of.

One thing that this book did for me was show me that a bolognase can be just as tasty with Quorn mince as it can with meat. It really is amazing how this form of Quorn takes on flavour. The fact that it is a really healthy option doesn't hurt either. The bolognase and our adaptations of the recipe in this book have become a staple part of our diet. Even my 5yr old boy likes it. The other recipe in this book I ask for on a regular basis is the Stroganoff. I love it and it tastes just as lovely with a jacket potato (yes I know I'm odd) as it does with rice.

These two recipes alone make this book worth buying. If you add to that the other recipes that we have tried and have on occasion it is a very useful book. If you have a reluctant vegetarian like me you will at least give them some options that do not make them think they are missing out on good food or having an obvious meat substitute. Some of the recipes are easy and obvious like toad in the hole with veggie sausages and yet we had not thought of. Sometimes the ideas are the important thing and this book is full of them.

THE TASTE OF QUORN HAS CERTAINLY IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS,WE USE IT MOST DAYS NOW.WE ARE AGAINST EATING SLAUGHTERED ANIMALS.
THAT ASIDE,WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMENED THIS COOKING BOOK.WE HAVE USED IT MORE THAN ANY OTHER COOK BOOK.
THE LOVELY TASTY RECIPES INCLUDE;MOSSAKA,KORMA,FILLETS IN CREAMY PESTO SAUCE,STROGONOF,LASAGNE,QUORN STRIPS WITH PASTA IN CREAMY MUSTARD SAUCE AND SPANISH CASSEROLE TO NAME BUT A FEW.ALL ARE DELICIOUS.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A 5 STAR REVIEW EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT SEVERAL OF THE RECIPES USE A READY COOKED SAUCE.BUT DO NOT BE PUT OFF.ITS A GREAT BOOK.

My son came home from school two week ago and announced he was "now vegetarian", I was thrilled at the challenge of making him fantastic vegetarian meals, needless to say, he didn't like anything. All he wanted to eat was noodles & salads. I struggled getting him to eat a healthy balanced diet especially the protein. I brought some Quorn chicken pieces and made him fajitas and stir fries but didn't really know what else to do with it, Then I came across this book and Its been a godsend, It's full of fantastic healthy tasty and delicious recipes. He eats everything I put in front of him now and I know he's getting well balanced healthy food. Thank you for a fantastic book. I'm now vegetarian.
