BRIGHT IDEA: If using braids and trims that fray at the ends, turn the ends under before sewing to keep them neat. Alternatively, use a fast-track craft glue to seal the ends under before sewing.
BRIGHT IDEA: Mounting the base fabric in an embroidery hoop will keep it firm and stable as you sew the rounds of prairie points in place.
BRIGHT IDEA: If there are many seam junctions to align along a pieced border and quilt top, sew the border in place from the centre outwards. Fold the quilt in half and mark the sides at the centre points with a pin. Fold the borders in half and finger crease the centre. Align the crease with a pin on the quilt and begin sewing from this centre point, working out to the edge each time.
BRIGHT IDEA: Instead of using the needle, some people find that a toothpick helps to turn edges under and form smooth appliqué curves.
BRIGHT IDEA: Reverse appliqué is perfect for featuring sparkly fabrics. Those that are sequinned or heavily embroidered will provide some stunning effects when revealed by the cut layers.
