Product Description

Review

"It's a lovely book to share, with bold, busy pictures offering lots of chances for small readers to pick out noise-words and follow the size cues to make loud and quiet noises. It could be used in class, gently introducing a chat about differences between people and we can all get along, or as easily just read as a simple, happy story." --Writeaway

"A very simple concept is turned into something approaching a little gem through illustrations which capture animals and humans, investing them with character and likeability, and minimal text, which, in variety of size and disposition on the pages, physically plays a part in showing readers what is going on." --Books for Keeps

"Good fun to read aloud."
--School Librarian

Wouldn't it make sense for a quiet woman to have a quiet dog and a noisy woman to have a noisy dog? Well, that is certainly not the case in this picture book. When this uncanny little group meet up and mix up at a local park it makes for a very interesting outcome. The two ladies allow their pups to play in the mud together; they accidently end up taking home the wrong dog. It's not realized until the ladies give the dogs a bath that there dogs were swapped. Each women played with the others dog. The quiet dog was noisy and the noisy dog was quiet, they wanted to go home.

The colorful display of sketched drawings in this picture book, are whimsical and fun. These little pups invite young readers from ages 3 to 9; to turn pages with excitement to see the outcome. The illustrator does a great job of showing the differences between the dogs and the women. Teachers and parents can utilize this book to help children understand contrast and comparison or opposites. Although it may seem to be a difficult subject for young children to understand, Eves shows its simplicity.

I recommend this book for children, teachers and parents. The illustrations and story line are easy for a child to understand and is a beneficial tool in introducing children to reading, animals, colors, opposites and so much more.
