Product Description

Product Description

QM2 was constructed in 2004 to great fanfare, the largest, longest, grandest and most expensive ocean liner ever built. She overtook the beloved QE2 in the glamour stakes and has become a firm favourite around the world, her popularity soaring once again since the retirement of QE2 in November 2008. Her interiors and 14 spacious decks put QM2 head and shoulders above the rest and hark back to the golden age of ocean liners. QM2 and QE2 experts Chris Frame and Rachelle Cross present the full story behind this great liner, from her concept as the next generation of ocean liner to her world-breaking achievements. With full colour photographs and fascinating facts, this is a must-have for all those who love ocean travel.

Having recently completed a cruise on this great ship I found that when I started reading the QM2 Story, I did not put the book down until I finished reading it. I found the information very interesting, not too much indepth information but enough to give any reader an insight to this magnificent ship. Anyone planning a first time cruise on this ship should read this book first, it would help to give a good understanding of Cunard's flagship.

Fantastic 8 Dec 2011

I read the review "Queen Mary 2: the stories, October 24, 2011" which gave this book two stars and just had to write a review to rectify this. Their review was about the Amazon service not the book at all. This is a great little book, and I thoroughly recommend it. I agree with everything that "Transatlantique" said - well worth the money.

A Charming Little Book 6 Dec 2011

This is a cute little book that provides a nice synopsis of the first few years of Queen Mary 2's life. There are a nice collection of small photos and descriptions documenting her construction, unfinished interiors, and many maiden port calls unseen in other books. It is a more up close and personal view from the author's and friend's photo collections, including those from her first Captain, the retired Commodore Warwick. At the end, there is a nice timeline of events which sums it all up. It is well designed and thought out, and sure to be a nice little addition to any Cunard enthusiast's library on ocean liners. However, many of the photos deserved a much larger format. Read the product's dimensions before buying this.
