For all of us who suffer from this heartbreaking disease, this is yet another waste of money. You can get more information from the psoriasis newsgroup and the npf than you will ever get from this book.

This book is a good one to add to your collection of psoriasis books. After reading many books about natural healing of psoriasis I have to say this one has a point that others have missed.

The unique thing about this book is that it's method is not out of a belief, but is based on knowledge from academic research. For example, a research have showed that a deficiency in vitamin B12 is common within psoriasis patients. So taking vitamin B12 would help heal the psoriasis. Same case for Omega-6 and 3. So take sufficient supplementation to treat your deficiency and help your skin to heal itself. I have tried only a part of the method for three weeks and the results have been promising. I hope to get even better results when I try out the full method. I do plan to consult my doctor before taking any larger doses of supplements.

Help and relief, yes. Cure, no. 28 Mar 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Every one has different experiences with psoriasis and the various "cures" available. This one works for me where others have not. After 6 months on a modified regimen primarily of milk thistle, B-50 or 100 complex, garlic oil, lecithin and Omega-3/GLA, my skin has actually cleared in most places. I don't take all the supplements LeVan discusses. Being off the regimen for very long allows the lesions to re-form. This book was the first I have found that addresses the underlying biochemical cause of psoriasis (liver malfunction) and gives a non-steroid option for relief. At the very least I can now function in relative comfort and have worn short sleeves in public for the first time in years. Hurrah for this book!

I was cleared in 3 weeks 19 Jan 2006
By D. Matic - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I had terrible guttate psoriasis all over my entire body that morphed into plaqualar psoriasis--I suffered with it for six months, bad enough that I was bed-ridden. Even though I'd given up hope, someone bought me this book and I tried it. Using their diet "do's and don'ts" and supplement regimen (yes, it's like 60 vitamins a day. But when your body is crying out for help like that, severity is necessary). I was CLEARED...in three weeks. I almost wonder if the reason this is not known by all the world is because the insurance companies won't make money if everyone knew! Because, at least for me, this book really was a cure, and 4 years later, I've never had another outbreak. I combined this diet, by the way, with UV treatments (which had previously only helped temporarily).

A word of caution from a nutritionist 19 July 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I suffer from psoriasis and am also a nutritionist. I think the overall message of this book (ie psoriasis symptoms can be influenced to some degree by diet and lifestyle, and modifications of an unhealthy diet/lifestyle can therefore help mitigate psoriasis symptoms) is valid. However, I find it extremely unnerving to find a biochemist giving specific guidelines on nutrient intake which are not consistent with current recommended guidelines. Current guidelines are based on clinical studies and scientific research and they should not be ignored. A specific example - Levan recommends a vitamin B12 intake of 1000 mcg twice a day. The known toxic intake of this vitamin is 100 mcg/day (ie Levan is recommending an intake 20x the toxic level). This vitamin is stored in the liver and so toxicity is a real risk. Scary stuff. My recommendation to other psoriasis sufferers would be to believe in Levan's premise - a healthy diet and lifestyle will help alleviate psoriasis symptoms, then avail yourself of a book written by a well grounded nutritionist (Miriam Nelson for example) or consult a dietitian. At the very least, read Levan's book with an open mind, check her numbers vs other texts and use her guidelines with caution.
