Anyone wishing to better understand the Psalms will welcome this book. Following an extensive Introduction, where Eaton provides background material about the Psalms in general, he then treats each psalm to his own translation, gives a brief introduction, a detailed commentary and then concluding remarks with a closing prayer. In dealing with individual Psalms Eaton never loses sight of the context of the Psalm within the complete Psalter. The book manages to combine the place of the Psalms in history and their place in, and meaning for, today's world in a vivid and extremely interesting way. It is a book which is very easy for the general reader to follow while at the same time providing for the more advanced student.
