I don't understand why the other reviewers were so harsh on this book. Perhaps it's because they have never been to Baghdad. I have, several times, and I found the book to be very realistic and exciting. Falconer describes it as it really is - believe me. I've even been to the Palestine hotel and I know the attack he describes really took place. 'Zeddy's' review was unfair and way over the top - but then I checked his review status and he's ranked 300,000th so I suppose no one really takes his seriously. Bottom line is, if you want to get a real taste of Baghdad, as it really is (or was actually a couple years ago - it's changed more since), read this book. The plot is nail-biting, the scenes chillingly accurate, and altogether a real ride!

Must have reading 1 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
I have become a huge fan of Duncan Falconer, My favorite author was Peter James, but after reading Falconers books there is no doubt the author has tremendous qualities in "keeping you hooked and in suspense". The attention to detail is brilliant, without being over the top or boring. Falconer delivers every time, so much so you want to finish one book and go on to the next!!!
John Stratton is the "man" featured in Falconers "undersea Prison" "The Operative" and "Hijack" amongst others, If you like books that are action packed, with suspense, and twists and turns, and are about true life issues which our guys in Afghanistan and Iraq are coming to terms with, Falconer is your author.
Brilliant Author Sensational reading!!!

An excellent read 20 Aug 2007
Format:Hardcover
Different from the other Falconer's because there are several main characters, and therefore a little slower to start, but it's an excellent read and is definitely worth reading. It desserves a sequel.
