The Office is a show that just gets better and better each season! As well as being absolutely hilarious, highlights include Jim and Pam's wedding and Michael hiding the new sales leads, the intriguing storylines keep me watching one episode after the other! Great storylines include Jim becoming co-manager, a new company taking over Dunder Mifflin and Andy trying to get together with Erin. The Office is the best show on TV easily. Fantastic!

I have been a huge fan of THE OFFICE ever since its first season. And, up to and including the very last episode, I am glad I did. The Series was original in its premise and execution, the pseudo-documentary format opening up numerous previously little explored avenues of storytelling. And it was great fun to watch.

The setting (the office of a small branch of paper-selling company) and the stories (everyday life of the people found working in such a low-prospects jobs) seem mundane at first. And there lies the magic of the creators. For (if the endless strings of CSIs are any indication) it not hard to create good TV with car chases, gadgets and explosions. It is extremely hard to make excellent TV with only the everyday grind to work with. It seems effortless only because they made it look easy.

The brief one-way interviews each character had with the camera functioned as either prefatory summaries of stories about to unfold (building up the anticipation) or as instances of pushing back, yet never breaking, the forth wall, and, thus, making the viewing experience more personal and involving. All without the show ever loosing its step.

Producing, directing and writing will only get you so far without the right cast. And THE OFFICE enjoyed such stellar cast. Steve Carell may have risked getting typecast by creating the unforgettable character of Michael Scott but it was worth it. Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) served first as the precarious love interest and then as the familiar friends you care about and the rest of the cast was one successful pick after another.

I was dubious about the US Office when I first saw it, but it's now become a firm favourite. I saw the first five series on LoveFilm, and bought series 6 and 7 as DVDs (I'll get 8 and 9 when the price comes down).

The comedy of the US series a lot broader than the UK version. But I find it much more fun.

Picking up where season 5 left off with Pam and Jim getting married and having a baby girl, and a new romance starting between Andy and new receptionist Erin and new bosses Sabre taking over at Dunder Mifflin otherwise it's business as usual for the employees still playing pranks on each other and other inappropriate behaviour all while being filmed by a documentary crew. Now the show has completely surpassed the British original pretty much beyond all recognition, the cast are as good as ever with Michael Scott still convinced he is the world's best boss and funniest man alive, Dwight still convinced he is superior to every male on the planet, Jim now promoted to co manager which annoys Dwight as he tries to get rid of Jim and grab power for himself and Pam now promoted to salesman and a new boss from Sabre played by Kathy Bates has taken over. You could argue that the show has gone on perhaps a bit too long but this is still one of the best recent American comedy series.

Another brilliant installment of the American Office tv series. Keep 'em coming. There are some great lines and hilarious scenarios - as always. If you're a fan of the previous series, or even the UK series, then I would recommend this DVD set.

I was expecting a drop-off in quality, (which it felt like it began occurring in the third series), but this keeps the pace up. Michael can still be absolutely shocking, and since the 5th season Dwight has taken on a rather Edmund Blackadder aspect to his character which makes some of his lines/deliveries uproarious.

As others have said, Michael is without doubt the gel for all of this. He can still produce some of the most painful foot-in-mouth situations worthy of David Brent. Yes, there are plenty of silly bits and outright dumb things going on, but this series gets enough right to make it more than worthwhile.

Overall it hasn't got a hope of reaching the highs and lows of the British original, but it still has plenty of charm.

For the record, I loved the first 5 seasons of The Office - strong characters in a consistently funny and well put together show. Season 6 has a very different feel to it. As a previous reviewer has noted, the programme seems to have lost its subtlety - presumably due to changes in the writing team. Dwight (previously my favourite character) seems to have had a personality transplant. He's gone from being a hilariously officious weirdo to being just an out and out bad guy - a humourless machiavellian schemer with a mile-wide mean streak. Various other characters have undergone similar changes. The show is still watchable but sadly not up to the high standards set by the previous seasons.
