By Freespirit TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Knitting is a dying art and if you loveknitting, then give lace a knitting a go. Be warned, this pattern is not for beginners - try something less challenging. If you are an experienced lace knitter and if you want a real challenge then give this a try! It is a pattern which really is NOT for the fainthearted. This is not something which you can keep for winter evenings while trying to watch TV - it needs concentration, dedication and committment. The instructions are clear and fairly easy to follow once you get the hang of reading from a chart. The design is stunningly beautiful and I can highly recommend Jamieson & Smith woolbrokers for purchasing your supply of 1ply cobweb yarn - there is nothing to match it. You can tell that the preparation of this pattern and the instructions have been a labour of love. I have found no errors yet and I am half way through knitting this. I have to say that it has been a true pleasure and watching the patterns grow, motivates you on to the next 200 rows and 900+ stitiches. Only another 12 months to go and I may actually finish it. In the end I hope to end up with a stunningly beautiful shawl for a prospective grandchild. Worth it!

3.0 out of 5 stars expensive pattern 16 Dec 2010

I bought this pattern thinking it was a book...nope, it is one pattern for a huge shawl. I researched and realized that this was the best place to get it since it was under $100. It arrived in mint condition, well packaged. It was fast getting here, which I like since I really do want my stuff fast.

I just wish that someone would have mentioned that it isn't a book but, one lone pattern, that would have helped me in making the decision on whether I should purchase it or not. Now, I feel for those people who purchased this elsewhere and basically threw away $100+ on it. It isn't worth $100. It would have to be spectacular to be worth $100. It isn't.
