Product Description

Product Description

Spend a day with the Princess and her friends in the forest. Dew children help to get her dressed, and comb her golden hair. Little moss children bring her a delicious forest breakfast, then she practises her writing with Mrs Crow, her teacher. Next its playtime! The Princess plays with her animals friends, the deer, hares, squirrels and birds, before telling stories to the mushroom and toadstool children. Finally, the star children light her way to bed. This is a beautiful story in Sibylle von Olfers' classic decorative style, sure to enchant younger readers.

Enchanting 11 Aug 2002
Format:Hardcover
This book is simply enchanting and quite timeless. The super details in the illustrations including the the sweet open faces of the princess and her forest children, and the antics of the naughty squirrels, are quintessential ingredients of magical childhood memories. The text is simple enough for the very young, but the language nourishes the imagination rather than aiming low, as so may modern book do. The overarching psychological message of a day spent close to nature, with helpful friends and the joy of learning rounds off with the subtle spiritual feel of the kindly star watching over you as you sleep. Perfect for bedtime, I love it nearly as much as my daughter!

Great book for all ages 16 Jan 2009
By Anne M. Hancock - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my 2 year old for Christmas. It has become a favorite. I love the simple, yet fantastical illustrations. The story is a good length for the shortened attention spans of toddlers. I have other books by Olfer, but this one is best suited for younger ones.

my tomboy loves this book! 13 Aug 2008
By Jen B - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I probably wouldn't give this a five, but my daughter would. It really is a sweet book and a great alternative to the overmarketed Disney princesses, but it is so simple and short. Maybe it is this simplicity that my child loves. The princess is not a damsel in distress and is kind and unassuming. There is no real storyline, just a princess going about her day, with the help of star folk and moss children, but it is a sweet story all the same. It is another nice book by Sibylle Von Olfers.

Simple but beautiful, and no licensed characters to be found 17 Dec 2009
By Gina - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is simple but beautiful. It tells the lovely story of the day in the life of a princess, surrounded by the nature that cares for her. My 6-year-old daughter was instantly enchanted and decided she even wanted her bedroom to look like scenes from the story. This is the type of princess story I love for her to hear, full of wonder and missing the ubiquitous licensed characters and product tie-ins that normally swarm around our children. Highly recommended for children this age.
