4.0 out of 5 stars More hot than romantic! 6 Jan 2013
By Miss B
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Deliciously hot stuff! I love the male perspective in these stories wich means we get some filthy language which I doubt anyone would have used in 18th century France (or whenever this is supposed to be set) or at least certainly not outside a brothel! Totally unrealistic but a complete turn-on. The male characters are ridiculously gorgeous permanently half naked alpha males who shag anything standing and the female characters, even the ones who are virgins, are not exactly blushing ingenues. I loved it. Raunchy and at times unintentionally hilarious fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of 4-letter words 5 Nov 2010
By Potterywhizz VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
There are three stories, supposedly based on fairy stories and very much the same. Stories open with men discussing women in a sexual way that is presumably meant to be sexy. The male heroes act like contemporary New age males of great sensitivity and understanding in spite of the fact that they are supposed to be eighteenth century aristocrats. The historical angle is a joke and the erotic element seems to rely heavily on the use of four letter anatomical words

review
"The Princess in his Bed" is an awesome book. The three stories are romantic and very sensual. Lila DiPasqua's writing style is very appealing and while reading this book I was able to relax and forget everything around me.
I enjoyed all of the three stories equallly and was impressed that none of the stories felt too short and unfinished. All of the main characters are likable and made reading the book a lot of fun. The combination of the very sensual scenes and the fairy tales worked perfectly for me. The stories are hot, fun to read and lovely and that's exactly what I like in books.

cover
I like it. Love the colour scheme and the pair on the cover also looks good.

final appraisal
I loved reading "The Princess in his Bed" and think that this book is a treat for all fans of lovely and very hot historical romances. I enjoyed how the fairy tales were used to create sensual and exciting stories. I will definitely read more by Lila DiPasqua in the future because she's a great author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your mom never read you these steamy fairy tales! 2 Feb 2011
By I. Cespedes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The Marquis' New Clothes {Story # 1}
To save her cousin, Aimee must retrieve a jeweled ring from the most sinfully seductive man at court, the Marquis de Nattes. But to search his considerable wardrobe she'll have to get very close to the notorious rake...and soon she finds herself very close to him indeed, with his clothes--and hers--utterly forgotten...

Adam, the Marquis of Nattes has fantasized and lusted after Aimee for six long years, but she was off-limits because she was the wife of his late friend. Now her period of mourning is over and Adam is determined to have Aimee once and for all.

Aimee knows that Adam is as notorious a rake as her late husband and he is not to be trusted. However, after finding herself in some awkward and very sexy situations (while attempting to retrieve a ring that Adam unknowingly possesses), she learns that he is impossible to resist and she relishes the opportunity to explore a new side of her sexuality. Before either of them realize it, what started off as bedroom games has turned into a love neither expected to find.

This short story was complete with drama, ultra steamy love scenes, tender moments and even a dash of humor. I especially love that it was the hero who wanted to pursue and conquer the elusive heroine. Adam's initial interest in Aimee may have been shallow but it was enjoyable to watch him fall victim to that 4-letter word, "love" while Aimee's previously broken heart is slowly and unexpectedly mended. {I'm such a sucker for this stuff, lol}.

This was definitely a great start Lila's latest trilogy!

The Lovely Duckling {Story # 2}
Reputed for his carnal skills, Joseph d'Alumbert prefers amorous encounters without emotional entanglement--until a quick-witted lady stirs tender feelings as well as hot desire. Emilie suffered burns to her body as an infant, and keeps her scars--and her heart--well hidden. But Joseph is determined to peel away her inhibitions, one slow steamy kiss at a time, to reveal the beautiful swan inside...

This emotionally charged story stars two very strong characters. As a child, Emilie survived a fire that left her skin badly scarred. During her coming out party, she was taunted and humiliated with some very hurtful names that left her emotionally scarred as well.

Joseph, the eldest son of one of the most powerful dukes in France, simply stood by while his "friends" made fun of her. Now years later, he is haunted by the memory of that cruel night. Posing as his twin brother Vincent, he begins corresponding with her and comes to know and care for Emilie.

Ashamed of her scars, Emilie has never experienced any form of intimacy. Determined to indulge in carnal pleasure, Emilie attends her aunt's masquerade party. Joseph and his brothers also attend and Joseph, still pretending to be Vincent is determined to stop Emilie from losing her virginity to a stranger. Sadly, he cannot bring himself to be honest with her and quickly finds himself tangled in a web of lies that could cause him to lose the only girl he's ever loved.

This was without a doubt my favorite of the stories! Although the heroine struggled with a lack of self-confidence, her resentment and anger toward being treated so cruelly gave her an inner strength and spunk that were admirable. She turned her lemons into lemonade :)

Joseph may have been dishonest, but his feelings for her were not. I feel that DiPasqua did a fantastic job creating a character that broke the mold. He wasn't interested in adding a notch to his bedpost, but rather to prove that he was a changed man. His deeply rooted guilt, inner turmoil and fear of losing Emilie was so touching and it made him equally lovable.

The ending felt a bit rushed, but I feel that it still played out well. Emilie and Joseph's story will tug at those heartstrings and is a nice reminder that love doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be real!

My only wish is that their story would have been longer :)

The Princess and the Diamonds {Story # 3}
Princess Gabrielle can't sleep at night. There is something hard in her bed. No, not just the stolen diamonds tucked under her mattress, but the handsome marquis on it....whose carnal talents she can't resist. But he threatens her secret mission, and worse, she stands to lose far more than the diamonds---her heart is at stake...

Mathias, Marques of Montfort lost a very good friend to suicide caused by a very serious gambling problem. He is now determined to help bring down one of the most dangerous and illegal gaming rooms in France. When he pledges to help unveil the leaders and players that are breaking the King's law, he's forced back to the tables of a game that he detests. One evening, the tables welcome a "youth" that bets not with money but with diamonds. His interest gets the better of him when he learns that this young man is actually a beautiful woman.

Princess Gabrielle has taken to playing Basset not for money or the thrill of it, but in the hopes of earning enough money to help her half-brother. However, her plans and concentration are thrown off when she is discovered by the most delectable man she's ever met. While "off her game" she loses two of the King's diamonds to Mathias. She must get them back, and quickly, so she offers herself to Mathias in exchange for the diamonds.

Mathias was the sexiest of the heroes and very likable! However, Gabrielle was the least emotionally invested of the heroines. She manages to keep Mathias at arm's length even when she realizes that he's fallen in love with her.

One of the consequences of writing short stories, is that the endings tend to feel a bit rushed. However, I was happy with the finale of this story and liked the little twist at the end.

I am a genuine fan of Lila's work and am so thankful that she's offered me the opportunities to read her books and help with her tours! I've been frequently impressed with her consistency in creating likable character, brow-wiping sex scenes, fresh takes on classic tales and complete storylines. I've read other short stories that really fell short for me (no pun intended). Lila has managed to always create sincere emotional connections with her character that make her stories feel complete!

I'm so excited to read her full-length novel, "A Midnight Dance" scheduled to release August 2011 {so mark those calendars}.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautifully bodacious bedtime tales 15 Jan 2011
By Virginia Campbell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
"The Princess in His Bed", the second book in Lila DiPasqua's "Fiery Tales Collection" is equally as erotically enchanting as her first book, "Awakened by a Kiss". Lila's beautifully written story lines and completely involving characters are a treat for truly devoted lovers of romantic fiction. I felt somewhat bereft at the end of each book. I wanted to meet more of her characters--each one is so wonderfully brought to life that you feel a personal connection to them and share in their joys and sorrows. Your heart and mind will insist that each pair of lovers finds a gloriously happily-ever-after ending to their own unique story. The setting for these fantastic, fiery fairy tales is the court of Louis XIV, where nothing less than excess in all matters was acceptable to the most wealthy and powerful of citizens. The debauchery of this devastatingly decadent era in history makes the discovery of real and lasting love all the more emotionally satisfying. Lila DiPasqua is an author whose writing I will continue to anticipate with great pleasure. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Book 1 was much better but this book was still entertaining 4 Dec 2010
By I Read Romance - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
LDiPasqua's latest offering extends her foray into erotic stories based on well-known fairy tales. Although I read the book in one sitting, I did find that the first two stories were much better than the third; and that this latest offering by LDiPasqua is not as enjoyable as her first book Awakened by a Kiss.

The Marquis' New Clothes - Aimee must help her cousin retrieve a ring lost in one of the many suit pockets of the Marquis of Natte. The problem is the marquis was a good friend of her deceased, philandering husband and she wants nothing to do with him. The good news is the marquis has lusted after her since forever and let's her search his suit pockets *wink*. It was very easy to believe in the attraction and ultimately love between Aimee and the marquis. The history between the two characters is introduced seamlessly into the storyline and actually helps propel the storyline forward. Aimee is a loyal friend who easily gains your trust, and the marquis is the magnetic alpha hero that you would be willing to let you sweep off your feet.

The Lovely Duckling - Wanting to fix a past mistake from his youth, Joseph d'Alumbert strikes a pen pal friendship with Emilie de Sarron, the lady he wronged. However he does so under the guise of his twin brother. What occurs is an engaging story into how mistakes made as youths can be rectified when seen in the more mature eyes of an adult. Emilie and Joseph are the opposites that attract story that is believable, as each has been shaped by their past fall out with each other, and as a result as adults their personalities are more capable of blending with each other.

The Princess and the Diamonds - The Princess Gabrielle is a illegitimate daughter of King Louis and has unparalleled access to the royal person and royal property. Her young half brother has lost the family fortune to gambling dens forbidden by the monarchy. She steals royal diamonds to bet in these games in order to recoup his losses - dressed as a boy. Her marquis is trying to destroy the den runners in revenge for bankrupting a close friend who ultimately committed suicide. What occurs is a long, drawn out story where there is minimal interaction between the two characters as the marquis spends the majority of the story chasing the princess from one gambling den to another trying to figure out who she/he is. Of the three stories, this was the most predictable and boring, utilizing a plot line that is becoming overused in historical romances. I ended up flipping through the story and skipping chapters to get to the end; ultimately finding I didn't miss much by skipping out on the middle of the story.

This book is definitely worth reading, especially if you enjoyed LDiPasqua's first book. However, I will caution that you may be disappointed that it does not quite reach the bar LDiPasqua set for herself with her first three erotic stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Princess In His Bed 22 Nov 2010
By Fiction Vixen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The Marquis' New Clothes

Both Aimee and Adam are attracted to each other. Aimee would like to deny that fact since Adam, a friend of her late husband has a reputation as a rake. Adam has wanted Aimee for years but she was the wife of his late friend and therefore off limits. But now her mourning period is over, and when Adam turns up the heat, he is not to be resisted. Adam is unknowingly in possession of a stolen ring that Aimee is trying to retrieve to save her cousin and in her quest to find it, she finds herself in a few awkward, and sexy situations. I liked that although this was a very sexy story it was also written with a touch of humor. Aimee's internal dialog is cute and she made me laugh several times. Adam is a sexy beast in the boudoir and any lady he sets his sites on should consider herself very lucky. The Marquis' New Clothes is a very light, funny story, sort of like an "I Love Lucy" episode, with a very sexy twist. I very much enjoyed Aimee's antics on behalf of her cousin and the hot steamy romance between her and Adam.

The Lovely Duckling

The Lovely Duckling is an emotional romance. Emilie, has hidden herself from society ashamed of the scars she bears as a result of a fire when she was a child. She was chastised and shunned at her coming out and has never forgiven those who caused her emotional scars. Joseph was present the night Emilie was devastated by the cruel remarks make about her scars and although he could have stopped it, he did not. Now years later, Emilie is ready experience the physical pleasures of sex and attends her aunts masquerade party with the intention of indulging in carnal pleasures. Out of guilt, Joseph has posed as his twin brother Vincent and has not only gotten to know Emilie, but has come to care for her very much. The thought of her giving herself to another is enough to drive him mad but since he has not been honest with her about his identity, he finds himself in a tangled web of lies that could cause him to lose Emilie forever.

This is my favorite story of the three novellas in A Princess In His Bed. Although the heroine struggles with self-confidence she has a very strong core that made me like her very much. Joseph complicates his romance with Emilie with a mess of lies, but he truly is a changed man and wants to protect and love her. The ending was dramatic and a came about rather quickly but I still loved how it all played out. A wonderfully romantic retelling of this classic tale.

The Princess and the Diamonds

Mathias is probably my favorite hero in this set of novellas in that he is drop dead sexy and his character is well developed. His back story is touching and he's just all around likable. The problem I had with this story was with the heroine. Like Mathias, her motives are noble but I never felt the warmth from her character and therefore the romance faltered a bit for me. I did enjoy the story, however for me this was the weakest of the three in the romance department.

I am once again impressed by Lila DiPasqua's fresh take on the age old classic fairy tales. These novellas are hot, steamy and entertaining. I look forward to reading the upcoming full length novel by Ms. DiPasqua, A Midnight Dance.
