Ok, so this is a silly film about a made-up country that most guys will tear their arms off and to beat themselves to death to avoid watching. It is most definitely a girlie film, but so good! And I dont think you have to be 10 to enjoy it. It's one of those films that you know is slightly ridiculous and that you would definitely not watch whilst in the same room as your boyfriend/brother/father/any male whatsoever (except maybe your cat) but you absolutely love it! If you just want a form of escapism then this is your film. Pretty dresses, tiarras, a nice lil love story, even non-girly girls (such as myself :P) will love it!

Okay, so this is absolutely NOTHING to do with the books. Change Mia's name and you have a totally different story. Still, it was a great film though, and definatly worth watching. I loved the romance in this one which was nice as there was hardly any in the first. I LOVE the matress surfing scene - it always makes me think 'I soooooooo wish I could do that!' I don't know which movie is better - i really like them both! All girls shoukld definatley watch this movie - just don't expect it to be like the books!

I don't agree with some of the previous viewers who said that they were disappointed with this film afte the first. I was the opposite: I really enjoyed it and thought that it was DEFINETELY better than the first, although I have to say that it strayed EXTREMELY far from the books. It was nothing like the books! I don't see the point in making a film BASED on a book, when it is so different from the book. It was still good, though.

Sequels rarely live up to their expectations. Especially in the comedy or romance seciot. This is one film that does. It had all the romance and comedy of the first film with far more details about the problems of girls growing up. Getting to grips with the expectations that life puts on you. Work, relationships and family. It has it all!!!

I HATE chick flicks. Despise them. 100%. Could not think of anything worse. I thought this film would be boring dribble. Oh I was wrong!
I have never seen the first princess diaries and when babysitting my younger cousins they and my girlfriend persuaded me to put this on and I frankly wanted to tear off my arm and beat myself with it, but, alas! It was funny, sweet, charming and loveable. The stunning Anne Hathaway portrays Mia Thermopolis Princess Of Genovia, who I am suddenly in love with, and Dame Julie Andrews plays the wise grandmother, teaching her granddaughter how to be a queen when Andrews is too old. The story consists of her having to have a husband to rule the thrown or she cannot take control of beloved Genovia.
It has brilliant situations, but come on! Its Disney so everything ends well, and although predtictable thouroughly entertaining for its 1 1/2 hour duration. It's maybe not for complexed film-goers, but still great fun. Even myself, a cynical male teenager found myself really entertained. The fact that it stood alone from the first film and was totally understandable without the prior knowlegde of the first adventure (I havn't seen it) it was great!
Children will love it, me and my girlfriend loved it, and its a great film. Performed well, written well, and made well.
Awesome.

"Princess Diaries 2" continues the delightful fairy tale begun in "Princess Diaries". Julie Andrews (Queen Celeste) and Anne Hathaway (Princess Mia) carry this film with help from a strong supporting cast. Princess Mia remains the young American woman from San Francisco, while growing into every inch a queen. Set in Genovia, "Princess Diaries 2" is enough fairy tale to be delightful, too much fairy tale to be believable, but with just enough of life to hold your interest. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy!

PD 2 continued to delight where PD1 left off. Julie Andrews as Queen Claris and Anne Hathaway as Princess Mia gave a heart warming performance in this delightful continuation of the Princess Diaries. This is simply one of the best movies on dvd, the story line is captivating as well as simple, graceful and full of meaning. Gary Marshall did well to convey the search for one's identity, and how self belief and living by one's conviction no matter what can enable us to find ourselves. As Mia is transformed by experiences from a clumsy gold-hearted Princess to a self assured, humble and generous Queen of Genovia, the lessons of life which serve to fashion and transform her are very well depicted amidst the humour and comedy of it all. This is a heart warming, romantic, fariy tale- like movie. A delightful treat for all ages, a must see and a must have. I highly reccomend it.

This is a great chick flick and a great sequal to the first movie.
Both Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews are great and play their parts very well. The two guys who play the love interests are also both very good and carry their roles well.
A must if you liked the first one.
It also has a great soundtrack with people from Kelly Clarkson to Raven and Lindsay Lohan.
It's a must for all pincess diaries fans.
