This is a really beautiful book. The fairy tale has it all - a frozen, beautiful princess, a despairing king and queen, a cruel suitor and a happy ending. Carol Ann Duffy's lyrical words are perfectly matched by Catherine Hyde's stunning illustrations which shiver and and shimmer across the richly coloured pages: a match made in heaven. If the Princess' Blanket had a soundtrack, it would be written by Kate Bush, who's album Aerial should have been illustrated by Hyde too, in my opinion.
