3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult Language, but Interesting Idea 22 May 2013
By Selina Souza - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I think there is a lot that works in this piece, but it gets bogged down by difficult language and so many characters.

The language is difficult to get through, but it does help set the tone for the time and the piece as a whole. I think if the language had been toned down a bit, it would have been much easier to read.

I also found myself getting incredibly confused with the sheer amount of characters and their relation to each other. How was Theresa a princess? Her uncle was the king, right? I found it all a bit confusing. I think if some of the extra characters were cut out and the relationships had been solidified, it would have helped.

I did like how the build up of Lateef's relationship with Theresa was done. I think that showing several of their sessions together helped build up their relationship.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this short story. It helped put my in the mindset of the time period, and the two main characters were likeable enough. 3 stars out of 5.

I really enjoyed the idea of this book. But it was so short - it felt like it was just the bare bones and still needed to be fleshed out.
