Book Description

28 Jun 2011
The world is changing at an ever-quickening pace. What’s the most powerful and effective way to keep up and to thrive in such a world? Ralph Marston, author of the long-running Daily Motivator website, devotes this book to an answer that might surprise you. His answer is to dream great big, meaningful, authentic dreams and to follow those dreams with passion and persistence. In every direction there are problems, on a personal level, a community level, on a national level and on a global scale. The best way to move successfully through the many problems is not some one-size-fits-all solution, but rather ten billion unique, creative, personally meaningful solutions: The Power of Ten Billion Dreams. With an intimate journey through his own dreams, Ralph makes an inspiring and compelling case for the value and the necessity of individual life dreams. When there is turmoil and change in the world, there is also a massive amount of positive opportunity. Our highly productive and interconnected civilization empowers individuals like never before, and that empowerment presents each of us with a profound obligation. Centuries of technological and societal progress have created an amazing worldwide achievement machine. That machine is nourished and maintained by the power of individual dreams. The Power of Ten Billion Dreams offers a personally meaningful way to make sense of our complex, fast-changing world and shows how even small, seemingly frivolous dreams serve to push all of life positively forward. You owe it to yourself and to the whole world to bring your most treasured, authentic dreams fully to life. In the same positive vein as Ralph's widely-loved Daily Motivator website and Twitter posts, The Power of Ten Billion Dreams will give you an overwhelming dose of emphatic, energetic encouragement to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ralph delivers good news. 31 Mar 2012

I've been reading Ralph Marston's Daily Motivator since 1995. He has published a column 6 days a week, every week, all year, since that time. I've corresponded with him several times over the years and he is always friendly and professional. I've enjoyed The Power of Ten Billion Dreams because not only is it a distillation of the good advice and wisdom that he's shared all these years, he still retains the enthusiasm and freshness of his earliest writing. I think that's what impressed me the most.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mind-bending eye-opener 15 Oct 2012
By Lee A. McIntyre - Published on Amazon.com

Marston has written a thoughtful, introspective, eye-opening essay on the philosophy of goals and dreams. As an avid reader of self-development literature, I find certain concepts are presented over and over again by various authors. Marston covers all these key concepts, too. But he goes beyond, to ask thought-provoking questions I haven't heard before -- questions that are vital but not always easily answered.

What are the ethics of goals?

Is it all right, in the grand scheme of the universe, to have selfish goals?

What does my having goals have to do with the health of mankind? (Sorry; if there is a more inclusive word than "mankind," it doesn't come readily to mind.)

I have "The Power of Ten Billion Dreams" loaded on my smartphone, and whenever I have a few odd moments (waiting in line, waiting for a friend, etc.), I pick it up and read as much as I can. I suppose that's not the ideal way to read a book. But it's the way I'm reading this one.

Marston also operates a Website -- the URL is greatday-dot-com -- where he offers daily motivational thoughts written from the same thoughtful perspective. (If Amazon censors that Web address, think "great day" and run the two words together, followed by a period, followed by the first three letters of the word "compound.")
5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece of Inspiration to Live the Life You've Always Dreamed 22 Jun 2014
By Lora Tucker Kaasch - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Written as only Ralph Marston, Jr., can, this book is a guide on living life to its full potential by realizing one's own authentic dreams. He weaves his own dreams into the book and the reader is able to see the importance of having deeply personal dreams, ones that resonate at the core of oneself. This is a book that I will read again and again.

An excellent book that powerfully convinces and inspires you to pursue dreams that are close to your heart. The personal story of the author about how he pursued his dreams is very helpful in making the book down to earth.
