5.0 out of 5 stars A Spritual Journey 7 Sep 2005
Format:Paperback
Like all of Castaneda's books, "Power of Silence" grips you from the start, and before you know it you've finished the book. I found this one to be interesting because Don Juan talks about his past. He tells Castaneda about how he got started in sorcery, and even gives details about his benefactors past. Crucial details on the path of knowledge.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Castanedas' writings & more understanding thereof 2 July 2013
By KevinPDonnelly - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
DISCLAIMER(again): LENGTHINESS IS SOMETIMES NECESSARY WHEN ONE MUST DEPEND UPON WORDS INSTEAD OF ACTUAL PERSONAL INTERACTION(as Carlos had in experiencing these lessons) TO GET A POINT ACROSS ON A VERY DETAILED TOPIC OF A COMPLETELY NON-DIDACTIC, NON-CONDENSABLE CURRICULUM...(My Apologies to any Reader)
This text in Castanedas' works on an Alternate Way of Existing & Reality(available to any who wish to do the work involved..) is useful in the discussions held with don Juan. It really needs to be read in conjunction with "2nd Ring" and parts of "The Eagle's Gift" to more fully understand the experiences had by Carlos as he advanced in his studies with don Juan.
Having read(&re-re-read)a little over half of this series(Have yet to purchase "Fire From Within", "The Wheel of Time", "Magical Passes", "Active Side" or "Tales of Power'), The Power of Silence is an attempt of don Juan's to be "a teacher" in the sense of what Carlos was originally studying to be,all those years ago, at his first encounter with don Juan, back in his time as a grad student @ UCLA. Don Juan as a Yaqui Sorcerer, being a teacher is a funny concept, he pulls it off inimitably, as usual. A Very Good Thing Carlos was very good with his language skills, in multiple languages( to be able to report on this curriculum)..
The text has useful metaphysical & esoteric connections that will not be understood very well, unless one has ingested & worked with earlier texts in the series. In the greater context of Carlos' whole work, this text helps the studier to understand some of the earlier situations Carlos went through in previous texts and the reasons why it took a while for Carlos to be able to write further become more evident as one studies and learns more of this curriculum.
My advise to any who are seriously studying the Works of Carlos Castaneda and working towards their own Definitive Journey preparations is, to read and cross reference this text in, their own way, with the other texts in this series, along with other sources, to more fully grasp what is being taught("Milarepa,Shaman of Tibet", Bruce Moen "Voyages into the Afterlife" and Richard Bachs "ONE" are some of the many other works I have read that assist in understanding the greater concepts involved in this curriculum).
A very important text in the whole of this series
5.0 out of 5 stars This is an easy introduction to ... 25 Jun 2014
By Bo E. Sundell - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is an easy introduction to the "third of the three," the Intent. The book does not reveal to True mystery of Intent, but is in an easy and fundamental way on its way to guide the human seeker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good condition 2 Feb 2014
By john - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The book arrived early within the time frame that was specified. The cover and binding are in good shape. No rips, tears or missing pages. No markings. Pages are slightly yellowed, but are flexible(not brittle)and are secure to the binding. Binding has no creases or cracks at all. No folds on the pages. Story is as good as any Castaneda book(better than some).
