I have owned this book for a while and do not refer to it much. Black and white step by step photos are good enough. Beginners might find it useful as it illustrates the basics, hollowing out finished piece and patinating fired head with mock verdegris. Not my style really. A much more inspiring book is "Modeling the head in Clay" by Bruno Lucchesi.

This books shows basic techniques in detail and is well positioned for the beginner and intermeditary. Bruno Lucchesi's 'Modelling the Head in Clay' is a good companion being more creative.
