Book Description

5 July 2012

Do your kids sometimes make you feel as if your head is going to explode?

Have you ever yelled until you were hoarse?

Do you have days when you feel like making a run for the airport?

Why is it so hard to be the parent you'd like to be?

Nigel Latta, bestselling parenting author, clinical psychologist and father of two, knows full well the challenges of being a parent. Loved for his clear and refreshingly down-to-earth parenting advice, Nigel takes the guilt out of being a parent with his 10 simple rules.

Tackling all the common areas that frequently become family battlegrounds, including sleep, eating, potty training and discipline, Nigel will help you through the first 10 years with your kids - and make sure that you actually really enjoy each other's company!

Nigel's 10 rules include, 'Kids Need Fences', 'Be Consistent-ish', 'Embrace Chaos', 'Feed the Good, Starve the Bad' and 'All Behaviour is Communication'. Written with humour, insight and wisdom, this essential guide is the perfect companion for any overstretched parent who wishes their family life were easier and more enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instruction manual for little people. 15 Feb 2013
By Mrs S
Format:Paperback
Get a bottle of wine and/or a few beers, collect up all your tarquin centered parent guides, set light to them, drink and be thankful because you have found a gem!
My kids aren't horrors, I can take them out in public and only feel mild embarrassment by their antics. However there were a few things I needed to iron out without turning them into robots or losing my mind. I want my kids to be able to argue a point but when its 8.15am and they aren't dressed for school or they're generally just trying to kill each other.........then I need help.

I love my children (as we all do) and I want a solid relationship with my kids, I want them to grow up happy, respectful and as well rounded as possible without losing my mind or them eating me alive.

This is a funny, funny book packed full of life saving tips & tricks. All positive, all good.
Thanks Nigel

This book is so refreshing! Pragmatic advice, brilliantly written & laugh out loud funny.
By far the best parenting book I have ever read - and as part of my work I have had to read many.....this is one of the few that feels 'right' as a parent.
You will not be disappointed & you will have everyone you know reading it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY thing that has worked! 8 Dec 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this book with a little trepidation. I have tried so many different ways of achieving a little peace in our home, none of which worked. We have 2 boys, 8 and 5 yrs. They constantly squabble, aggravate and whine. Some mornings I have been in tears where I can't take any more. So, I read this book and realised that I wasn't alone. The case studies in it help you to understand where we all can go so wrong with our children. But then Nigel Latta explains how to put it right. I was a bit surprised at a couple of his methods but I could still see how they worked. We have had The Ladder of Doom in place for a few weeks now and both my husband and I are pleasantly shocked at the results. Our home is a much pleasanter place to be. You really do have to follow the simple instructions to a T, it's worth it! We realised that we were far too soft with our boys before. This book gave us permission to be 'mean' to get results.BUY IT NOW-READ IT-DO IT-you won't regret it!
