3.0 out of 5 stars Not apt for today's micros. 29 Nov 2012

While this book is pretty good at explaining how smaller stakes work, it is appalling for the micro stakes player.

If you employ the strategies used in this at the smallest of stakes you will, WILL, lose money. Most of the people at these stakes are calling stations and it's just not profitable to bluff or semi bluff against them without massive draws. I find a lot of books make this mistake. It's so much easier and much more profitable to just play monsters big, get in cheap with your marginal hands and then value bet relentlessly in most of the spots in this where the author advises different strategies.

IE, raising 3x on a table where you've got 5 others who are likely to call makes absolutely no sense. You're better off raising massive to get value from 1/2 of them who're still willing to call, and then taking them to town.

OBV the author crushes more than I do but I just think most of the spots in the book don't apply to MICRO stakes.

For small stakes it's pretty great, though it has to be said the title is misleading at best as this seems to be specifically aimed at small and not micro stakes..

5.0 out of 5 stars Smashing lower stake cash games 29 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Reading this book has helped me re-emphasise important strategies to winning on cash game tables. Parts of the book, such as playing fast on streets and targeting fish, made a lot of sense, and you can see how some guys are making 100k profit from small stakes tables. This book has also encouraged me to keep discipline if getting bad beats or on a losing run.
I would clearly recommend this book to the occasional cash game player, or someone who is flirting with the idea of using a bankroll to start playing regularly. After over 10 years of playing poker, I believe I have a better grasp of techniques used simply to make profit on cash game tables

5.0 out of 5 stars at this price it's a steal - buy this book! 12 Sep 2011
By HT
Format:Kindle Edition
The Poker Blueprint used to be sold for nearly $100. Now the kindle edition sells at under £10 which is an absolute steal and a snap call. If you only buy one poker book, start with this one. It's detailed enough, but won't drown you with examples. It gives you a great overview of concepts and how to apply them, and will undoubtedly improve your game.
I've been grinding micro stakes NL for years and never been winning. Realising you WANT to improve is the first necessary step of course, and this book is a great step in the right direction.
I fully recommend The Poker Blueprint.

Be very conservative with your raises from the blinds. With a few limpers in the pot, don’t raise unless you’ve got a good hand like 99+, ATs+, AQo+, or KQs. "e;

When the decision to fold or call pre-flop is close, folding is better because a small mistake can lead to a bigger one post-flop. "e;

When a player check-calls your c-bet on a paired flop, he almost always has a pocket pair. He will sometimes check-call with A-high as well. Knowing this, if a player calls your flop bet, be ready to fire a lot of turns. If he raises the turn bet, it’s almost never a bluff, so just fold unless you beat trips. "e;
