DVD Description

The Pouges in the late 80's were one of the bands to be reckoned with, Shane McGowen had a reputation and you could guarantee any show would be' full on'. Never before released on DVD, recorded on St. Patrick's Day 1988, this captures The Pogues at their absolute best, raw, energetic and complete mayhem; as a Pogues gig should be. Kirsty McColl guests on vocals for the infamous "Fairytale Of New York" and "Lullaby Of London", Joe Strummer and Lynval Golding are amongst a host of other people on stage for this hour of top entertainment. The DVD also includes interviews and backstage fun from the concert as well as a home video of "Streams Of Whiskey"

In the height of their anarchic best, on St Patricks day in the the Town and Country Club. Shane holding court, snarling and melodic in equal bursts, and the band as tight and emotive as ever.
All the classics, an audience high on the result, captured live it encapsulates what the Pogues were about and even on DVD you feel you are there, and feel drained and ecstatic as a result when you watch it.

An absolute must for all people who love great music and having a fantastic time

I bought this thinking that it would be an hour or so of the pogues in concert. Unfortunately what you get is bit of an interview / cut to a song / cut back to another bit of interview then repeat, so there is no continuity. The picture is quite grainy and does not expand to fill the screen. It's the sort of thing you watch once then file to gather dust. If you want to really enjoy live pogues music, buy "Live at the Brixton Academy" - ok no visuals but infinitely better sound and straight through music.

The packaging of the dvd is misleading, the photo's on the cover are from entirely different concerts, however this dvd is fantastic. The quality is not great, the footage is very grainy, but the music shines through.
Shane sneering and spitting every word with passion. Great guest appearances through out the show. Great stuff all in all and worth the money.
