Review

"Very relevant to important depth psychological controversies and even to important general political arguments of the present day...Original and stimulating...I enjoyed the freshness, the genuine helpfulness and the intellectual vigour."
-"British Journal of Psychiatry
"Revolutionary in nature without being abstruse...the author's fluency is sufficient to appeal to a wider audience...Samuels is making an original contribution."
-"Quadrant
"Andrew Samuels has emerged from the Jungian fold as a thoughtful and eloquent apologist for psychoanalysis. He is a master . . .."
-"Times Literary Supplement
"Absolutely irresistible! Challenges us to risk losing the comfortableness of the bourgeois, the status quo, the safeties of the orthodoxies and absolutes. . . . A real "tour de force."
-"Journal of the Institute of Psychotherapy and Counselling
"Does justice to the complexity of the analytic experience . . . [shows] considerable originality and imaginative boldness . . . there is certainly a point in pursuing the text of "The Plural Psyche."
-"British Journal of Psychotherapy, March 1991

4.0 out of 5 stars Improved understanding 26 Oct 2009
Format:Paperback
I purchased this book, following the persual of a university library copy. It has helped me enormously with understanding the psyche in pluralistic terms. As I am becoming able to comprehend the concept of an active imagery existent between: metaphor and literal, internal and external, I am increasingly understanding how the individual's reality of their psyche connects with social reality. The influence of this book has prompted me to purchase The Political Psyche, by the same author, to assist my understanding to deal with a thematic/political issue.
