I've read all three of the Pirates books as soon as they've come out and this is my favourite! I read it cover to cover in one go without putting it down at all. I especially love the completely useless educational footnotes! This is like nothing else, except maybe the other Pirates books, and everyone should read it, now.

The pirates! are back, and they have a sponsorship deal. This is the funniest of the pirates books so far. Karl Marx as the rear end of a bear in Wagner opera, this has to make you smile. More please

This did not float my boat. It may be an acquired taste but not one I intend acquiring. By all means read it, the book is said to be like a child's book for adults, but if you are looking for humour, look elsewhere. I smiled once or twice but thought the rest of it was puerile. The story is clever and knits a few themes together. The story could make for a great comic book but doesn't. The pirates have basic names and no personality which I found made it difficult to have any feeling for them. The Captain has more personalities than pages in the book and so is difficult to understand. I did not find anything grown up in it. A shame because I think the idea is great. I can also understand why others like the book.
