For those who mention (question)his personal choices for an album, it's worth considering that it is expensive to create just 1 CD, especially when having guest musicians with contracts to negotiate. Liam Og has an ever-expanding repetoire of musical influences, whether it be traditional (Irish or otherwise) or newer contemporary works on which he is "invited" to participate. IF he recorded them ALL, the Boxed Set would require a Fork-Lift to deliver. Given his incredible growing catalogue, Boxed Set 2 wouldn't be far behind.
Being a pristine master of his instruments, he fits in with consumate ease and astonishing ability on everything with which he is,or as been associated.
The Uilleann Pipes are legendary as being (perhaps) the most difficult instrument to learn and play. I can attest to this. The principal requirement of training your elbows (Uilleann) to replace your lungs is a tricky business for a start. In my experience, I can't think of any other musical instrument you might have to fight with to get it to co-operate. Watching Liam play makes it look as though his Pipes are just a natural extension of his basic bodily functions.
You've got to love or appreciate any musical genre to appreciate it, so don't just buy ONE of Liam's albums, get them all !!!
