Book Description

The Ten Pillars of Buddhism are ten ethical precepts—such as generosity, truthfulness, or compassion—that together provide a comprehensive moral guide. These teachings are the source of Buddhist ethics, their depth revealed here as Sangharakshita considers them collectively, then individually. The Ten Pillars of Buddhism provides a fascinating insight for anyone interested in leading an ethical or Buddhist life. “A handy and easily readable introduction to Buddhist ethics.” Prof Damien Keown, author of Buddhism: A Very Short Introduction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Foundation for Practice 22 July 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a fundamental work for anyone interested in Buddhist practice from the perspective of the Triratna Buddhist Order. It is clearly laid out explaining the Triratna Order's principle tenets and canonical foundations. Each of the Ten Pillars or Precepts is then explored and discussed in detail in a way that applies to everyday life. It is easy to read, not a long work but so full of important priciples to reflect on and put into practice all the time. For individual or group study, a very important book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triratna Ethics 7 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This deceptively short book contains the basis of an intelligent ethical practice for anyone on a 'spiritual' path. Based upon the Triratna Buddhist approach, this penetrating investigation requires prolonged thought and reflection. This is in my top three Sangharakshita titles, a masterpiece!
