Product Description

The Physiology of Training is a gem. I have already used, cited, referenced and recommended it to teaching colleagues; third year undergraduate and postgraduate students; personal trainers; and coaches, both in academia and within the Health and Fitness industry. I look forward to the other forthcoming titles within the series; its a tough act to follow!

I purchased this book to help me with the applied and physiology modules on my sport and exercise science degree. It came in very handy and has some useful information that will definetly benefit your studies if you choose a degree within sport and exercises science. My book cover seems to be printed slightly out of alignment but it's no big deal. Good book.

Great starting point 13 Feb. 2011

This book does not go into great detail into any of the specific areas of physiology of training, but what it does do is give a good introduction into the basics and also provides great suggestions for further reading if you do need more info. The latter - being well referenced - is something I value more and more as I move forward in my career.

This series of books (from the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences) was suggested to me by a friend and former colleague and I am glad I picked up a copy. The main purpose of the series is for undergraduate courses, but I also could see them being useful for coaches looking to learn about the scientific principles behind training. It is logically laid out, the author list is excellent, and the contents is balanced. If you are a strength and conditioning coach or sports coach interested in evidence-based practice then you should check it out.
