"The Photoplay" is a unique essay of the early period of film criticism. It is highly recommended for everyone interested in reading about the psychological and aesthetic approaches, and what makes this essay by Munsterberg so unique is that it is written in 1916.
However, I am deeply unsatisfied with this edition, or this publisher. The text is now rights-free, and easy to download, and if one chooses for a 'book-version', this is because a simple print-out of the downloaded text is not appreciated. Alas, the edition 'published' by 'Hard Press' (the one with the greenish-greyish cover) has done nothing more: a simple download of the Gutenberg-text, copied in a program with no attention to typography, and printed. They have not even taken the effort to re-edit simple spelling mistakes. This results in a very sad book.
Therefore I strongly recommend people NOT to buy this very cheap edition and look elsewhere for Munsterberg's text.
