Book Description

An erotic novel by best-selling author K D Grace. In appreciation for a job well done, STELLA JAMES 's boss sends her a pet - a human pet. The mischievous TINO comes straight from THE PET SHOP complete with a collar, a leash, and an erection. Stella soon discovers the pleasure of keeping Pets, especially this one, is extremely addicting. Obsessed with Tino and with the reclusive philanthropist, VINCENT EVANSTON, who looks like Tino, but couldn’t be more different, Stella is drawn into the secret world of The Pet Shop. As her animal lust awakens, Stella must walk the thin line that separates the business of pleasure from the more dangerous business of the heart or suffer the consequences.

Review

I read dozens of books every month. Most have a formula that works in today s world for today s reader, whether male or female, likes vanilla or lifestyle sex. Some have a different twist, others are boringly the same. The Pet Shop is so edgy and different it just jumped up and hit me upside the head with a 2 X 4. KD Grace has crafted something mesmerizing. Sure, it s all about sex, and that s all well done, with elements of D/s, spanking, anal, M/M, and F/F, plus variations of all. However, what I liked best was that high-powered people would willingly choose to be a pet, in order to be pampered, coddled, and loved for a short time, to get away from their hurry-up lives. This is not a BDSM lifestyle book. Those elements take a background to the basic human need to treat and be treated the same as the creatures of the earth who need help and caring. More About the Author

Voted ETO Best Erotic Author of 2014, K D Grace believes Freud was right. In the end, it really IS all about sex, well sex and love. And nobody's happier about that than she is, otherwise, what would she write about?

When she's not writing, K D is veg gardening. When she's not gardening, she's walking. She walks her stories, and she's serious about it. She and her husband have walked Coast to Coast across England, along with several other long-distance routes. For her, inspiration is directly proportionate to how quickly she wears out a pair of walking boots. She also enjoys martial arts, reading, watching the birds and anything that gets her outdoors.

K D has erotica published with SourceBooks, Xcite Books, Harper Collins Mischief Books, Mammoth, Cleis Press, Black Lace, Erotic Review, Ravenous Romance, Sweetmeats Press and others.

K D's critically acclaimed erotic romance novels include, The Initiation of Ms Holly, Fulfilling the Contract, The Pet Shop. Her paranormal erotic novel, Body Temperature and Rising, the first book of her Lakeland Witches trilogy, was listed as honorable mention on Violet Blue's Top 12 Sex Books for 2011. Books two and three, Riding the Ether, and Elemental Fire, are now also available.

K D Grace also writes hot romance as Grace Marshall. An Executive Decision, Identity Crisis, The Exhibition are all available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Story 21 Mar. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The other reviewers have covered most of the story but, nevertheless, I have to add my own. I'm glad I didn't read the other reviews before I purchased this book as they would have spoiled the book for me.

K D Grace is an excellent writer. Surprises are revealed throughout which makes the story even more interesting. I have read a few "Pet" stories but they have been very harsh in the main and Ms Grace's story is different in that despite the BDSM elements it is more sensual than cruel and I love a HEA ending.

I read the Initiation of Ms Holly quite some time ago and have forgotten it (I have a bad memory which is good when re-reading stories!)and will be reading it again soon.

I read mainly US erotica and bought quite a few GB erotica books recently but I just couldn't get into them at all and didn't even finish most of them. I didn't find the sex scenes in these books (by different authors) at all erotic but Ms Grace writes erotica beautifully. Ms Grace has the ability to successfully span the Atlantic and appeal to readers wherever they live.

The editing is also excellent and there were no grammatical or spelling mistakes and anyone who has read any of my other reviews will know this is an important point with me.

I will be reading more of K D Grace who is now on my shortlist of favourite writers

5.0 out of 5 stars Somewhere The Pet Shop Purrs? 11 Sept. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
K.D. Graces The Pet Shop is a masterpiece in erotic writing for many reasons.

FIrstly, the depth of detail involved in the idea of The Pet Shop makes you believe that it is a real place and maybe somewhere in the underbelly of society there is.

Secondly, the characters are well rounded and in depth and you feel a real empathy or upset towards them, or the situations they are in. There is one particular plot point where I found myself upset, hurt and really felt for the main characters sadness at what had happened.

What I loved about this book is the scenes of erotica which as well as being very hot and very explicit also have intimacy, romance and a tenderness threaded through them which is something very hard to pull off especially in these times of 'mommy porn'. It seems that sex can only be one of 2 things explicit and pornographic or romantic and smushy; what K.D. Grace manages to achieve is something quite rare, especially in the written word.

Finally and while we are on the subject; it's hard to ignore reviewing a BDSM centred book without mentioning 50 Shades and I'm no different because it has to be said the for every area I felt let down by 50 Shades; The Pet Shop made up for in abundance literally this book flows with many emotions and draws you in to everything and without spoiling it, contains one of the hottest scenes I've ever seen put on paper and it involves food. As a budding writer where 50 Shades left me - and many others - thinking I could do better. The Pet Shop left me in complete awe if not slightly intimidated at what has been managed to be achieved within its pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutley Wonderful! 20 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
K.D. Grace gets better and better with each book! This book explores the psychological needs of us humans, being animals ourselves, and having those basic instincts. If you want an entertaining book that includes deeper aspects as well as pure erotic entertainment, this is the one! I can't wait to see what K.D. releases next!!

5.0 out of 5 stars very interesting concept! 17 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Ms Grace takes us on a trip to an erotic place called the Pet Shop. It is a place where the rich and powerful men and women get to let go of the outside world and live as a pampered pet would the exception being lots of sex and spankings! The pets may stay at the shop but most are sent to "Keepers" who will tend to them for a length of time, disciplining them when necessary, pleasuring them often.

There is a plot and a few story lines to this book. Each of them are well written and flowed together instead of jumping from scene to scene with no sense of order.

This book was hot and dirty but also sweet and sensuous. There were couplings for m/m, f/f/, m/f and multiple partners. No one gets left out. While the majority of the pairings were not my usual cuppa it was a very enjoyable read.

Thank you Ms. Grace!

Whatever your kink, stick with this book and you'll probably find something you like.

The story’s protagonist, Stella, is the hard-working employee of an environmental agency whose employers decide to provide her with a ‘pet’, Tino, for the weekend in recognition of all her hard work. Expecting a rather more conventional employee reward – like some theatre tokens for example - Stella is surprised to take delivery of a sexy guy who comes compete with collar, lead, instruction manual and near-permanent erection.

Despite her initial reservations, Stella soon gets into the swing of things enjoying a weekend of sexy fun with her obedient ‘pet’ before having to return him to his handlers. Unable to put Tino from her mind, she is desperate to see him again and finds herself eager to find out more about him - to find out who he really is when he is not being a kinky housepet for paying customers.

When she finds Vincent Evanston , a wealthy, reclusive naturalist and Tino’s alter ego, she discovers a man as different in temperament from Tino as it is possible to be. As their mutual attraction grows, Stella needs to find a way to understand the two seemingly contradictory sides to Tino/Vincent’s personality.

Along the way, we find out more about The Pet Shop and how it operates through Alan and Annie, Stella’s bosses and secret pet shop string-pullers and through Stella’s ongoing quest to understand more about the organisation, even to the extent of training to become a pet herself where she finds herself on the receiving end of a belt whipping for breaking pet shop rules.

Alongside the hot animal sex, spankings and three-ways, there is a nicely satisfying story at the heart of this story as Stella and Vincent develop their relationship both inside and outside ‘the Pet Shop’.
