Book Description

5 Mar 2010 0393933482 978-0393933482 5th Revised edition
Organized according to the six main domains of modern personality psychology, David Funder s market-leading text shows students the field as it exists in the present. By incorporating significant coverage of the great theorists of personality psychology throughout, the book helps students understand how the field developed. And by showcasing the questions driving the research of today, The Personality Puzzle enables students to see the exciting future of the discipline. For the Fifth Edition, every chapter has been updated. A new illustration program supports visual learners with updated versions of the book s much-loved cartoons and new in-text features to help students visualize and remember concepts. The text covers classic theories of personality as well as all the latest findings, including up-to-date coverage of the biological domain, new material on cross-cultural psychology, and expanded treatment of positive psychology. As always, The Personality Puzzle is a book that students will read, enjoy, and remember, with a writing style that is engaging, distinctive, and humorous.

I bought this for my 2nd year Psychology degree course and it's definitely the best textbook i've read in a while. Amusing and easy to understand without being patronizing the author has done the best job of making background reading as intriguing as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book with Well Rounded Material 22 May 2013
By zgrami - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This text is very well written by a current psychologist of our era. The text makes sure to explain many of the aspects of the human mind in terms of metaphors that are easy to understand. The text is easy to read and makes the statistics (although somewhat heavily for a non stats course) a breeze to understand. Funder is great!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Overview of key concepts 15 Mar 2012
By Corey F. Nishioku - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is pretty much like other psychology books. Goes in depth on some concepts but others are only briefly touched. Some of the examples are completely outdated or irrelevant and the writing is a little dull. I honestly had a hard time sitting down and reading this without falling asleep. We used it for Personality Psychology and helped me somewhat get a better grasp of things, but the teacher was more helpful.

When I first received the text book the pages were barely attached to the bind which ended up breaking the next day! I couldn't return the book because I needed it for my class I could not wait longer...so now I have a broken book that I cannot resale, I was very upset and disappointed.
