I started this treatment after I had been diagnosed with CFS for about 18 months. After paying the expensive consultation fee of £200 Dr Perrin confirmed I had CFS (Well tell me something I didn't know), did I need to spend £200 to be told that?

I was told that the treatment for recovery would be 2 years and that I must follow is daily massage routine without fail and attend his clinic once a week initially (£40 per go or £160 per month) or if you want to be treated by the man himself it would be £60 per session (which is for 30 mins massage). He also tries very hard during this consultation to sell his book to you at the highest price of £15.

So I went away feeling really positive as Dr Perrin told me that he could help and that I WOULD get better. So for the first three months I did as he ordered, I ensured I did the massage and attended his clinic without fail. During this time I did feel better at times and don't know whether this was the placebo effect or just the up and down nature of the illness. Anyway every so often I had a treatment with Dr Perrin who told me I was doing great and that I could reduce my treatments to once a fortnight. This made me feel positive as this reduction in treatments means that I could only being getting better, so I started going fortnightly for nearly a year and during this time I just didn't feel much better. Every so often I met up again with Perrin who kept telling me that I was improving, he could tell I was improving because he would hold my head and feel something (a pulse I think!!) and tell me that the toxins in my lymphatic system are reducing!! So naively I believed him and continued to attend his practice for a lot longer after this.

After some time and still feeling ill the last straw cam when I paid £60 to see Perrin for a 15 mins treatment (should have been 30) and all he talked about was how well his research was doing and not much about helping with my symptoms etc that I was explaining to him.

My experience was that I wasted well over £1500-2000 on this treatment (I also had to pay petrol for the traveling to his clinic, which again adds up). I am currently trying a number of other therapies and actually recently started to make good progress, whether this is me improving naturally I don't know but I find eating a healthy diet has seriously helped.

Didn't help me. 24 Nov 2008

Just to balance the other reviews - I was treated by Raymond Perrin for the two years he said it would take for me to recover. I followed his recommendations rigourously, desperate for any improvement. It had absolutely no effect on my M.E.

Made me worse! 23 Nov 2011
By Hannah
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have had ME for a couple of years and as many of us, am desperate to get back in full health. After having some improvement from psychology and nutritional therapies I decided to 'accelarate' my recovery by starting the Perrin Technique. I had read his book many times and it made sense. In the initial consultation he said that my recovery was very possible and would take about 2 years, and that I may feel worse in the beginning of the treatment because of the detox reaction. All still fine and well until I started the protocol...Well, in two weeks I went from being able to cycle small rounds and do yoga and be up most days to being bed bound with a feeling of never been so ill my entire life! He said that my reaction was severe, but 'could happen' and that I'd be back to where I was in a couple of weeks time. More than a month later I'm still struggling to even move around the house, little alone leave anywhere. This horrific experience really amplified my anxiety and I now need to take medication to manage it. So all I want to say is that, this approach may sound good on paper, but when a stressed out body (and mind), which everyone who has ME has, is been put into a protocol that has 3 detox massages per day every day, the end results can be nasty. His supplementation recommendations are also very dated and generalised - you really need to speak to a proper ME specialised nutritionist and get tested for these 'toxins'. My Nutritionist is now 'cleaning up the mess' that the Perrin Technique left me with. BE AWARE!
