If your just about to buy a kitten or have recently acquired one then this book will make a very good guide, it is packed full of information and very, detailed. What I also like is that the book is not too simplistic, alot of books of this nature do not venture into the realms of cat behavioural, phsyical and social development whereas as this book does by explaining how the cat views its world and responds to various situations and stimul because of this.
As a trainee cat behaviourist I would definetly recommend this book, and on the contuary to another reviwer I do think this book has a few good training tips, but this is not a book on cat training and doesn't claim to be, it is a book that gives a very clear and conscise overview of all a kittens needs which in turn helps to minimise the development of behavioural problems and a more enjoyable cat. What we need to remember is cats are not dogs, they are essentially wild animals that have learned to co-operate with us and enjoy the perks that our companionship offers. There will only ever be so much "training" you can do with a cat through positive association and reward, there is no other way and I feel this book explains these theories well.
