5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect jazz collection 11 Mar 2011
Format:Audio CD
A very impressive boxed set, beautifully presented, each cd resembling a minaiture VINYL LP of the original LP. all the tracks are there from the original LPs plus many extra tracks; sometimes these old recordings can sound as if they were recorded in a barn, but all of the 25 cds are superb,I particularly liked Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone Errol Garner and Sarah Vaughan, but everyone will have their own favourite. The set comes with an excellent booklet, giving an insight into the artists. If you are a jazz fan you can't go wrong with this set, it represents superb value for money; buy it with confidence.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ! 20 July 2010
Format:Audio CD
Bought it yesterday and without a doubt the best buy this year. I have to add that this box , and new, only made a hole of 39,95 euro in my pocket. Contents is clean with hard-lp-sleeve like covers and booklet with info on all the cd's. Half of the cd's get a 5 AMG-rating, the others don't go down 4.
The cd's are discrete numbered at the side and follow a logic pattern.
Louis Armstrong:Plays WC Hardy,Sarah Vaughan:Sarah Vaughan in hifi,Art Blakey:The Jazz Messengers,Billie Holiday:Lady in satin,Miles Davis:Kind of blue,Dave Brubeck:Time out,Duke Ellington/Count Basie:the count meets the duke,Helen Merill:parole e musica,Charlie Mingus:Tijuana moods,Chet Baker:Chet is back !,Thelonious Monk:Monks dream,Sonny Rollins/Coleman Hawkins:Sonny meets Hawk !, Martial Solal:At Newport 63,Paul Desmond/Gerrry Mulligan:Two of a mind,Benny Goodman:Together again!,George Benson Quartet:its uptown,Nina Simone:sings the blues,Art Tatum:piano starts here,Erroll Garner:concert by the sea,Herbie Hancock:head hunters,Stan Getz:the best of both worlds,Jaco Pastorius:Jaco Pastorius,Weather Report:heavy weather,Wynton Marsalis:Marsalis standard time vol 1, and last the original soundtrack from Bird-Charlie Parker.
For the price I payed, you never can go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Jazz Collection 15 Dec 2010
By ric2003
Format:Audio CD
This is not the perfect but an excellent Jazz collection. The albums are all originals, the sound quality is very good and the selection of recordings in addition to being representative of various periods of recorded jazz, includes, in my opinion, some of the best albums of jazz history. Aware that much was left out, I believe, however, that for those who want to start a jazz record collection or simply do an upgrade, this box is the ideal and the price could not be better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!! 28 May 2011
Format:Audio CD
Simply the best value ever. This is an absolute give-away at £[] for 25 classic albums. Fantastic music in terms of artistry and sound quality with attractive and practical packaging (very little shelf-space needed). A helpful booklet is also provided with some background notes, additional artwork and track listings for all the albums - many of which include bonus tracks. You might find you have alrady paid full price for some of this great music, which is a bit galling. And you'll need a magnifying glass if you want to read the album cover notes on the cd sleeves. But do yourself a big favour and just buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get This Box set!!!!!!!!!!! 16 Jan 2011
Format:Audio CD
This is just about the best collection I have ever seen. It covers decades of Jazz From Louis Armstrong (clearly the best musician ever) plays WC Handy, Which was recorded in the 50s but the music was written 30 years before, Right up to Weather report, an awsome album of jazz - rock - funk fusion. There is a huge variety from jazz-thats-almost-pop to blues. There are no artists that don't deserve to be included in the perfect jazz collection although I would have prefered the inclusion of Ella Fitzgerald for example. All of the albums are as they were originally released in their original sleve only smaller as they are CDs, this is great but means that some of the writing is almost impossible to read. Most of the CDs last around an our because there are bonus tracks to make up for the fact that the records only lasted around 40 mins. This means that it is great value for money and you get to hear other versions of great songs and some that you have never heard before.

Not only did mans journey into space peak between 1969 and 1972 during which the 12 (only what ? 8 left alive) men who walked on the moon did their stuff : music also peaked during those years. The rest is just winding down and fiddling about. 15 2 hours ago
