I am very happy with this book. I flicked through it at a bookshop on the coast and came home and ordered it on here.

It is an unusual book in that it concentrates on explaining and showing you how a knitted piece of fabric can be shaped and put together exactly as you would a sewing pattern.

So the transition from piece of knitting to knitted garment is completely understood by the end of it.

The book is A4 size but the pages are thin, I like that because it means the book is not that heavy and the cost can be kept down.

The images are truly superb and I recommend this book for that reason more than anything.
I need good clear large images to really understand something and this book has the largest close-ups I have ever seen, in fact the photographs make the yarn size life size.

This book gives me the confidence to make garments for adults.

book lives up to it's name 26 Jan 2011
By B. Good - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've seen many ads for this book and just had to check it out. I've always been one to continue to improve my skills and this book was amazing! Great pictures, and lots of them, step by step instructions, and to my amazement, there were even patterns at the end. nothing special, but interesting enough for me to pick it up. The book covers a little of everything; blocking, adding collars and pockets, zippers, and tips on the basics of weaving in ends. I was a little disappointed in the fact that all the techniques are for knitting. I'm an avid crocheter as well and not all finishing touches will work for both. However, this definitely was a great by and an invaluable addition to my library.

A Good Finisher 18 Feb 2011
By Pamel Welsh - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I needed a book to help me with improving my finishing techniques and this book fit the bill. Since I had my stroke in 2000 I had forgotten a lot and had to reteach myself to knit. Therefore, I was struggling with bulky and unsightly seams on more than one occasion. So much so that I refrained from knitting garments in these past years and stuck with circular knitting and simple flat knitting projects like scarfs and dishcloths. I would still knit some toys or dolls that I could hide the seams inside with the stuffing but that was it. No clothing to give such as sweaters or tank tops for my 14 growing grandchildren. Now, I have regained the confidence to do so once again with this book.

Waste of time 10 Feb 2011
By AvidKnitter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a waste of time. If you want 30 pages of patterns and a primer on how to make a knit or purl stitch, this book is for you. Otherwise, stick with Vogue's Ultimate Guide or Wiseman's Finishing Techniques. Better yet: Get Katharina Buss's Big Book of Knitting instead...it's excellent.

This book just doesn't doesn't have the depth a knitter needs for the myriad of finishing steps a knitter needs to complete a knitted project.
