Book Description

31 Oct 2002 Guardian/Piccadilly Competitio
The 2002 The Guardian/Piccadilly writing competition for teenagers inspired some excellent and imaginative writing. The panel of judges consisted of Colin Dexter (author of the Inspector Morse series), Joanna Carey (Guardian reviewer and freelance writer) and Terrance Dicks (author of the Unexplained series and former Dr Who script editor).

The eleven winning stories display refreshing diversity, orginality and humour. This is a memorable collection, revealing the creative talent of today's young writers

3.0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Crime 11 Jan 2012
By Den
This book was compiled as a result of a competition for teenagers in 2002(The Guardian/Piccadilly writing competition). One of the panel was Colin Dexter of Morse fame. The basic guidelines were that it needed to be short story about a crime (any crime) and not be longer than 3000 words.
This book contains 11 short stories - all totally different in length and theme. Nothing in the book is remotely similar. i couldn't believe they were written by young people and not experienced established authors

What I enjoyed about this collection of stories was the variety of ways that these young authors had interpreted the theme of a perfect crime. I especially enjoyed Maire MacNeill's ironic take on animal cunning. However the stories are all well contructed and definitely worth a read. They all display amzing writing talent.
