Perhaps I should have read the reviews before I bought the book - but then for 71p it's not like it's cost a fortune.
The plot - a young 17 year old schoolgirl kidnapped in revenge for something her father did, transported by ship where she gets gang raped (and seemingly enjoys it), before being sold at a private auction for $40 000,then embarks on a mission to get home which involves the SAS rescuing her - has the potential for a good read. Where it falls down is in how she seems to have the killer instinct which has evolved from paintballing at weekends, combined with judo and other martial arts lessons. These skills enable her to outwit the SAS who are there to rescue her, leading to the death of many of the soldiers.
This is a serious topic that could have been used to better effect to raise awareness of the plight of people kidnapped for people trafficking.
Describing our heroine, it came across as the fantasy of a middle aged man.
I can't decide if I liked it or not - but I think for 71p I wasn't ripped off.
As for the heroine, she sounds amazing but thankfully it's all just a piece of fiction.
