These 'Freedom To Roam' guides published by Frances Lincoln with the Rambler's Association are properly thought-out publications, benfitting from a genuinely pocket-sized format with durable rounded corners, excellent colour photography, appropriate OS map extracts, and all the background information you'd want for a day on the northern hills. The historical notes embedded within the walking routes add good context, and the Special Features are particularly interesting for general preparation prior to donning the boots and waterproofs. Having borrowed just one of these guides from my local library, I went out and bought the set. Thoroughly recommended. Well done.
