Bought for my brothers birthday present, whilst he was touched I'd got him a good book, he already had it hidden on his book shelf so I kept it and read it. I agree with my brother - this is a good book.
There are many photo books of National parks full of breathtaking photos. I think the novel aspect with this book is the combination of stunning pictures with a narrative covering the history of the Peak including Pagan rituals, Druids, Romans, the industrial revolution and the evolution of modern sports. The pictures and the text nicely compliment each other. It flows really well and covers a lot of ground and not too text heavy.
A really good read and a must for the book shelf of any lover of the Peak district, the great outdoors. The origins of the Peak are fascinating.
