As already mentioned in the title I found this map strong, durable and detailed for anyone to find his position when out in the Peak District. It is a really large, double-sided print all laminated and ready to use in wet, muddy and al sorts of such conditions which are often present and sometimes come unexpectedly in this "heart of Britain" area.

Finally, I would say it is a really good deal both quality and money(around half price for what you would pay in store).

If you are going walking in the Peak District you need this or the more basic version, even if you have a book of circular walks to use. With the one for the southern part of the PD, it allows you to check, shorten, or extend your walk, and avoid any walking that is beyond members of your party or that you just don't fancy. Money well spent.

The Peak District - Dark Peak Area (OS Explorer Map Active): Kinder Scout, Bleaklow, Black Hill & Ladybower Reservoir.
The OS Explorer 1:25000 map series is pretty much the definitive map for walkers and similar. These Active maps are a little bit more bulky that the paper equivalents but if you want robustness then it's the one to have. They are also a little more expensive of course. Also these maps are double sided so if you are looking at the side folded inwards it's a little more difficult to manhandle and fold it to see what you want.
A solid buy if you want to explore the northern half of the Peak District.

Works well with the protective screen.

Sometime hard to fold into a useable size with the plastic covering it has, but overall excellent to use while out and about in all weather

Very good. Very detailed. It is a must bring when you go the Peak District. Very reliable. The only problem was on Kinder Scout where there is no path but the map shows one...Maybe it could be drawn with a different color code as you assume you find a path when it disappears on the plateaux.
BIG BIG map so sometimes it is a bit tricky to browse particularly in high winds.
Buy it if you are going trekking in the Peaks!

These laminted maps are really good. Well worth the extra few pounds. They will last a lot longer and do not get ruined by rain. Added to the fact you can draw on them with water based markers and then wipe clean and you can't go wrong. If you're going to use this map regularly then buy this one over the non laminated version. Happy walking

If you are going out for a walk on the hills and you think it might rain a active map is a must.

The active map is laminated which not only allows you to use it in the rain without that awful soggy map effect but also helps protect the places where you fold your map.
