Product Description

Division within the ranks of the peacekeepers threatens to tear them apart as they battle the Colombian drug cartel and a mystery enemy. Adding to their growing list of problems is the fact that the unidentified enemy is attempting to master the technology that permits them to travel submerged in their ships, which appear to be clones of those of the cartel. If ships can approach the coastal cities of America undetected, it would be all but impossible to stop them from attacking.

More About the Author

Hello,

My name is Ricky Sides, and I'm a writer. My published books are the seven volume peacekeeper series, Adventures in Reading, The Ultimate in Women's Self-Defense, and Brimstone and the Companions of Althea. Book one of the peacekeeper series was originally released in audio format by Books in Motion. They are currently working on book 2, and if the series does well, they will probably eventually contract the entire series.

I was born in Florence, Alabama, in May of 1958. My paternal grandparents were sharecroppers. During my early childhood I spent a great deal of time on their farm, which was bordered by thick woodlands. I roamed those woods extensively, which worried my grandmother to no end. I learned my work ethic on that farm where I often helped with the cotton crop.

In 1976, I met and fell in love with my wife, Sue. We were married in 1977, and have been together ever since that day. During the month of September 1980, our son was born.

That same year, I began to study martial arts, and did so until the early 1990s. After learning that one of my female students had been sexually assaulted in the past, I gravitated toward specializing in teaching women self defense. I released a book on women's self defense, titled, The Ultimate in Women's Self-Defense. That book explains why I invested years of my life in attempting to help women. It was originally written in 1992.

In the early 1980s, I met a Vietnam veteran who shared my love of the woods. We struck up a friendship. When he learned that I wanted to become skilled at survivalism, he decided to teach me. I wrote the first draft of The Birth of the Peacekeepers in 1985. The character Pete Damroyal is based upon the old friend who taught me survivalism. He still has the mate to my dragon dagger. That will mean something to people who've read The Birth of the Peacekeepers. But many of you will not have read it, so I'll explain.

Much of the character, Jim Wilison, is autobiographical in nature. Of course, much is also fiction. Those who've read the series would probably be surprised to learn just how much of my real life is reflected in the experiences related by the character. Brandy is the most personal experience related in the book. I think I added those scenes to book one as a form of tribute to her. Some might argue that I shouldn't have done it, but it made me feel better. In a way, when people read those scenes the child will be thought of with compassion. Those scenes were added in the extensive rewrite in 2007.

During the year 2004, I began to write the Brimstone series with a partner named Kathy Young who handled the editing. Brimstone was based upon the online role-playing game named t4c. (The fourth Coming.) That nine novel fantasy series was in some ways the most rewarding writing experience I've had to date, primarily because of the interaction I enjoyed with the fans of the series. I so treasured the reader comments that I placed them on my website. Unfortunately, talks have stalled with the company that owns the intellectual rights to t4c, so that series probably won't be published. It's all on my website though, so if anyone is curious, they can read the books there.

Much of my own experiences are also related in the short story book Adventures in Reading. America, Land of Mysteries, and Coping with Breast Cancer are written in such a manner that the reader would understand that they are autobiographical in nature. But The Test isn't. That short story is a fictionalized version of the training I underwent for Chinese Ninja.

I have traveled extensively east of the Mississippi, from Chicago, Illinois to Jacksonville, Florida, and all manner of places in between.

So there you have it folks. It's just an average life, but I'll take it.

Have a great day,
Ricky

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable series 15 Jan 2014

When I find a series of books, I always try and go to part 1 straight away. The "Peacekeeper" series was no exception. Having not "discovered" the Author Ricky Sides previously, I had a few books to catch up on.
I have now caught up and have enjoyed the whole series, including this latest offering "Redemption".
To me, the technology is believable and the characters are fleshed out. The only observation I have is that way back in book 1, the cause of the quakes is not explained ( unless I missed it, I need to read books two or three times to get all of the story); why did those disasters that decimated the world population happen.
Regardless I have enjoyed all of the episodes so far, and look forward to reading them again in a few weeks time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suck a superb series well worth its weight in gold. 25 Jan 2014

Mr. Sides is a writing genius. Each book in this series, The Peacekeepers, is a written work of excellence. This author has the talent to grab the reading within the first few sentences in a grip that will not let go until the very last word is read. The characters are so well crafted that there are times when I forget that they are fictional and find myself wondering what they are up to now. The scenes are so vividly descriptive, planting a pristine picture within the mind of the reader, that I am positive that I would recognize each person and each ship within this story, if I happened to see them in real life. If you have yet to pick up book one, Birth of the Peacekeepers, and begun reading this fantastic series, you must. Now I want the next in this series because I know it will be just as good as the first and all that have followed. I have read hundreds of books in my fifty three years if not thousands and this is the first series where after a book or two the series does not start to become flat due to maybe the author becoming bored with the story line or just lack of talent. Sides is as fresh in his story as he was starting the first book. Amazing! Oh, and this is not my genre of choice. I have, since I thankfully came across these books, sought out others in this genre but one a scale of one to ten, I may have found one or two threes or fours whereas Side's would rate a twenty.

What can I say about #14 that I haven't already said about #1-13?

I am so glad the books keep on coming. It's a wonderful treat for the reader to get to see how the characters lives keep going; often the most we get is a trilogy. Continuing the saga after the initial horror is great-thanks Ricky Sides!

If you haven't read them, read them. 'Nuff said.

Mr. Sides, do not stop! I have completed the 14 books in this series so far and really could use a few more. Character Willison has put together a formidable force. There is a unity that you feel a part of as you go through this series of books. Much like the infamous "Wool" series by another author, this collection should harness as large of a following. The difference, this story comes about from a collapse of a society rather than a "down a hole" bombing scenario. Through each book, the author has retained a unified connection with the characters, with the exception of a few surprising personnel losses, and has never failed to connect each books finish to the beginning of the next. Mr. Sides, we are waiting patiently.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating reading and engaging characters 28 Oct 2013

Mr. Sides Peacekeeper series is a great read and his latest book Redemption is a good read even for people new to his work (there is a note section at the back to help with this). For those who are fans of this series this new book has lots of new developments and new tech to sink your teeth into. Mr. Sides books are full of engaging characters who you find your self cheering or despising. Which ever the case maybe you can't deny that good characters make for good reading and his cast though large, is full of characters that are just like people you know in real life and that makes his characters very believable.

This series is very like the old radio serials (yes some people still remember these ;). You find yourself checking his sites waiting for the next episode. Thankfully he is a very prolific writer (14 books from 2007 to today) that just seems to be hitting his stride.

All of his books are reasonably priced so if you haven't read them you'll probably find yourself going back to the beginning after you read this book. I highly recommend his work to all my friends and anyone who likes to read sci-fi.
