5.0 out of 5 stars Parent's Toolkit Review 2 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback
The Parent's Toolkit is wonderfully easy to read and it would be surprising if it ended up gathering dust by the side of your bed as I think it will be in constant use!
Naomi Richards offers simple parent led techniques that helps parents engage children to allow them to feel better about themselves. It focuses on building a connective relationship with the children based on listening and talking from problems such as the toxic friend through to managing anger. Enabling our children to be resilient and cope with failure is key to confidence and future success and the "Toolkit" is a wonderful resource to do just that."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 5 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
I love this book! Not only is it easy to read and full of useful tips and information, what I love most about it is that it is full of issues that are important to your children. Other parenting books look at things from a parents perspective or focus on things that are important to parents but this switches the focus onto the child and what is important to them. One of things I learnt when I was undertaking my youth work training was how important it is to 'meet young people where they are' not physically but mentally, emotionally etc to build trusting, empowering and influential relationships. You will learn so much by considering things from your childs perspective and meeting them 'where they are' focusing on their feelings and issues that are important to them and that's what this book helps you to do. Your children will thank you for reading this book.

Naomi has provided some really useful tips for parents which span a wide range of situations. Kids can be fairly unpredictable (to say the least) and the way that Naomi breaks down the information and tips into useful sections makes it really easy to dip in and out of. It's written in a really approachable and understandable way too, giving some good real life examples of how the techniques can work. I thoroughly recommend it to any parent and guarantee they will find some useful nuggets of information within the pages.
