Book Description

Three children stumble upon an extraordinary library in an old house. Armed with magical books, and accompanied by an enchanting deerhound, they leave through a door that takes them to a world in the past. Beyond the door, a kingdom is in crisis.

The children must unlock the secrets in their books as they face storms, fight traitors and tackle dragons.

The Great Sword of State has been stolen and destroyed. The Queen reveals an ancient prophecy that says only these children can replace the Sword and she sends them on a journey that takes them beyond the world’s end.

Without knowing who they can trust, can they succeed?

"Charming and compelling, this magical adventure story will entertain and enchant in equal measure." Santa Montefiore.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring book! 15 Dec. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This fusion of magic, adventure and excitment is a breathtaking novel that you can't put down. I loved the Palace Library and read it in about two days. I protested about going on a dog walk because I wanted to carry on! I recommend this book to any children who love Harry Potter and The Cronicles of Narnia or any others who love a good book. Join Grace, Harry, Eleanor and Sophie the dog on a magical adventure!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Palace Library 6 Nov. 2012
By Max
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe meets Tolkien.

This is a paging turning children's book with a pace for all ages including adults. I read it & I was entranced with a secret world full of drama and surprises - one is reminded of a simpler and kinder childhood era.

Short enough for younger kids and long enough for teenagers - we are ready for the sequel already. Where will the Palace Library lead to?

5.0 out of 5 stars A gem of a book! 13 Nov. 2012
Format:Paperback
This enchanting tale of heroic (but very real) children facing dragons and unmasking traitors in 12th century England with a huge dear hound at their side had both my children (and me!) enthralled from beginning to end. This is a real gem of a book which will transport a generation of pre-teens into a wonderfully vivid fantasy world where three children make all the difference. Please may we have another tale from the Palace Library very soon!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary 19 Nov. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The Palace Library is extraordinary: the first book that I have ever read to my children where they would rather hear what happens next rather than watch more junk on the TV. The novel has a lovely premise. Superb pacing; and Loveridge has got good style with it. I am hoping - and my sons are hoping - that it will the start of a long, long series.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son was entranced 9 Nov. 2012
By Luche
Format:Paperback
My son devoured this book. I suspect there was a certain amount of midnight reading as he came downstairs in the morning announcing that is was "totally brilliant" and that "it's like the Narnia books but even more exciting". He's rated it alongside the Morpugo books which in his eyes are the tip-top. Will definitely buy the next Loveridge book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for kids 10 Dec. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My 9 year old son is a good reader but has been reluctant to do much reading. So I bought this for my Kindle - the combination of a gripping read and new technology has made him love reading again.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Palace Library - a grandpa's view 24 Nov. 2012
By grandpa
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a grandpa, and have just read The Palace Library by Steven Loveridge, to see if it would interest my five grandchildren (7-12).

It zipped along, and I read it from cover to cover without stopping. It seemed to me to be exciting and interesting, and had some historical connections. Yes - it should get and keep the attention of the kiddiewinkies. It also leaves open the way for future adventures. Paddy
