Product Description

Album Description

An imposing soundtrack composed by newcomer Jérôme Lemonnier has a great place in the film. Performances of pieces by Shostakovich, J.S. Bach and Schubert are perfectly integrated with a contempo score that facilitates a mood of expectant unease.

THE BULGARIAN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA conducted by Deyan Pavlov.

La Tourneuse de Pages 30 Jan 2009
Format:Audio CD
[[ASIN:B000IONJQA The Page Turner (Lemonnier)]

This soundtrack- from a brilliant film - is one I couldn't resist buying; it includes several beautiful classical pieces, but Lemonnier's own little composition, Prelude de Melanie, which provides the overall theme of the film, is stunning. A piano piece of only one minute and thirty five seconds' duration, it is so fascinating in its beauty and complexity that I remain unable to reproduce it accurately in my mind after listening repeatedly to it. I love it! When it was first played in the film I actually thought it must be a Bach prelude that I hadn't heard, so I was amazed to discover that it was in fact composed for the film.

This soundtrack to the film 'La Tourneuse De Pages' is a beautiful piece of work not least for the first track 'Le Miroir des Choses', which is so potent and so haunting that it stealthily remains in the mind for hours. I wake up the next day with it gently playing in my head and that's no bad thing.

As with all soundtracks, there are several small pieces of music designed to fit the narrative but these are all wonderfully realised. I bought it for the interpretation of Dimiti Shostakovich's Trio op.67 no 2 and although it's good I was still drawn back to Jerome Lemonnier's own compositions.

If you like the film then you really can't go wrong.

This is my favourite film score at the moment. I have played it many times. Initially I was interested in Jerome Lemonnier's comments about the composition of the work in his interview included with the DVD, which led me to purchase the score.
