1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed 2 Oct 2009
Format:DVD
After reading Jodi Picoult's book was really looking forward to watching this DVD and with actresses like Juliet Stevenson and Megan Mulally in it, was sure it would match up to the book. What a thorough disapointment, it was a waste of time and never actually told the story about Chris & Emily, their childhood together, Chris's time on remand in prison and the trial. Wish I'd stuck to the book and my own imagination!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Megan Mullally is not just about comedy. 27 April 2004
Format:DVD
When you think of Megan Mullally you may think of Karen Walker thedrinking socialite. Little did we realise that there is a side to Meganwhich can pull at your heartstrings. As the mother of a girl who dies in asuicide pact she appears both strong yet vulnerable. Just when you thinkthat she is going to fall totally apart she finds the strength within.
Like me you may find it a difficult film to watch but it is alsoutterly compelling to see how the characters interact with each otherthrough their suffering. When you think that Mullally will seek outsupport from her husband and best friend you see her reject them andisolate herself in her fight to survive her worst nightmare. Excellentsupporting work from Juliet Stevenson as her best friend helps to makethis little known film make a huge impact on your life and what youthought you might do if faced with a similar situation. Not to bemissed....

1.0 out of 5 stars If you like the novel, don't watch the film! 5 Feb 2010
Format:DVD
I absolutely love all Jodi Picoult books - but 'The Pact' is one of my favourites. So, whilst I had read the poor reviews for the film, I was still keen to see it. However, it is as poor as the other reviews have said! It has none of the detail and intimacy of the book. When the film finished I was still sat there waiting for the second half! I couldn't believe that that was it. The court case, which is central to the book, was hardly touched upon.

A mediocre film by itself, but a real disappointment if you know the book.

The book by Jodi Picoult that this film is based on is brilliant with an original and beautifully written story.
Unfortunately the film does not do it any justice. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheesy
This is so cheesy, it's terrible. Emily Gold's voice is the most annoying thing ever - trying to be so moving but it just makes me want to punch her. Pathetic.

I must admit I have not read the book, but enjoyed the film. Contrary to the previous review, I felt Juliet Stevenson was excellent.
