If you're a Gang Starr fan this is exactly what you have been expecting. Nothing more and nothing less. Guru and Premier have followed their tried and tested methods. Guru's deep and meaningful rhymes are delivered in his distinctive, monotone style over Premier's melodic tracks, oldskool but reworked breaks and scratching. This is another solid album with only dope tracks included. Gang Starr fans will be pleased that short samples of the previous albums are reworked into choruses for the new tracks. There are also some great contributions from guest rappers as usual. The styles are updated from the last album but only slightly. Perhaps Gang Starr could have surprised us by changing the formula a little more. For this reason I've given the album 4 instead of 5 stars. It's one of my favourite hiphop albums but not as innovative as "Step in the arena" or "Hard to earn".

I have to admit i was a bit cautious when i bought this cd, because i had only heard 1 song by Gang Starr - the immense Full Clip - but i heard the unbelievably gangsta track Who got gunz featuring Fat joe and M.O.P. which blew me away. Rite where you stand is more commercial but is probably the main stand out track on the album. The majority of the songs are short in length (under 4 minutes) but this takes nothing away from the cd. Overall, this album contains songs which most hip hop fans can get into and is an impressive display from guru and premier which will make you want to delve into their back catalogue if you haven't done already.

This is DJ Premiers and Guru's 6th and latest album since 1998's "Moment of Truth". I first heard about this album while listening to an advert that featured the hot joint "Rite Where U Stand" with Jadakiss. I decided to buy the album but was cautious because of the number of tracks 19 in total 3 of them skits. But, each track apart from "Deadly Habitz" and "Riot AKT" are less than 4 minutes long and are really cathch and easy to get into. Snoop, Fat Joe and M.O.P to name a few all make guest appearances on the album. The best track has to be "Rite Where U Stand" followed closely buy the underground tune "Skillz".The whole album is a decent purchase and a definite reccomend for all Gang Starr fans and other hip hop fans who and who have never heard of them. Peace out.
