Review

"One of the best-loved nonsense rhymes of all time... The simple illustrations have an appealing charm - a picture book that children will love." Practical Parenting

Product Description

A sparkling and beautifully illustrated edition of one of the most famous and best-loved nonsense rhymes of all. The Owl and the Pussycat is perhaps the most popular of Edward Lear's classic nonsense verses. Generations of children and adults have delighted in the epic sea voyage of these two courteous lovers and their eventual marriage on the island of the bong tree; in the piggy-wig and his ring, the turkey vicar and the wedding feast eaten with runcible spoons. There have been several illustrated versions of the poem, but few have caught so perfectly the silliness and spirit of the master of nonsense. Louise Voce's ebullient pictures are filled with an infectious vitality and reveal an eye for the absurd that is a joy to behold.

Fabulous! 18 April 2007
Format:Paperback
My two daughters love this book. I don't think I will ever part with it and will save it for when I'm a grandma! It's beautifully illustrated and is just a lovely book. I read it again and again to my girls and at the age of just 2, my youngest could recite the entire poem - which is some achievement given its length! Fab. Just Fab!
