Product Description

American sci-fi series from 1995, itself a remake of the classic 1963 series. This series follows the example of its predecessor in exploring the human imagination in relation to new breakthroughs in technology and sciences. Often focussing on the darker side of human nature and the hopes and fears that the future will bring, the series highlights mankind's constant struggle to remain in control of his own destiny. Episodes include: 'The Sandkings' (1), 'The Sandkings' (2), 'Valerie 23', 'Blood Brothers', 'The Second Soul', 'White Light Fever', 'The Choice', 'Virtual Future', 'Living Hell', 'Corner of the Eye', 'Under the Bed', 'Dark Matters', 'The Conversion', 'Quality of Mercy', 'Caught in the Act', 'The Voyage Home', 'The New Breed', 'The Message', 'I, Robot', 'If These Walls Could Talk', 'Birthright' and 'The Voice of Reason'.

5.0 out of 5 stars About time!! 27 Mar 2007
At last!! More than ten years has passed since I became enthralled in a weekly dose of the outer limits and finally some bright spark has decided to get it out on DVD. There are some classic episodes in this first series and almost every episode that has been made has included a famous TV/Film star which adds credibility to some very well written sci-fi and thought provoking episodes. My only worry is that this series saw a release in the states quite some time ago and I haven't read or seen anything that has indicated the second series is coming out... When you see some of the garbage that is taking up valuable shelf space in the local entertainment shops, you'd hope that the follow up series to the Outer limits also comes out for those that have been fortunate enough to see and appreciate some classic cult TV.

3.0 out of 5 stars Series 1...Is that it? 10 July 2007
By Mr. L. N. Taylor VINE™ VOICE
I agree with the earlier review where the reviewer retracted his comments having been told TC Fox had no plans to release the remaining 6 seasons. Whats the point then? When I spoke to them they were very non-commital indeed, which doesn't exactly bode well. The US had releases of Season 1, a best of Season 1 & 2, and Seasons 3 and 4. Then again the US also had releases of Time Tunnel and the forthcoming Land of the Giants. No sign of those here either. Another case of UK customers getting shafted yet again. This Season was OK, certainly better than Season 2, but the show really hit it's stride with Seasons 3,4 & 5. I'm going to wait and see if MGM release a boxset of all 7 Seasons on Region 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tv! 20 May 2011

Great old television, just like it used to be. You can laugh at the budget rubber 'aliens' and such but it's telling a story and holds your interest far more than the latest cgi fests. I'm definately getting the second series. Don't buy the sex and cyborgs comp or the other one, just get a multi region DVD player. 22 Episodes too, you'll be lucky to get half that with modern series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sci-Fi anthology 26 July 2007
By T. R. Alexander TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE

This is the first series of the great sci-fi anthology show the Outer Limits and was probably one of the first exposures to the genre as an adult that I can remember. The episodes in this season are all well written and although the graphics are nothing compared to modern CGI it was state of the art at the time and enjoyable never-the-less. Although some of the acting is a bit suspect in places there are some very good performances and it is especially fun to look out for actors who went on to play well know characters in latter programs. My personal favourite highlights of the season are the episodes Dark Matters, about a spaceship stuck in a weird region of space, and Quality of Mercy about POWs in an alien prison camp. Although some of the tales are a little moralistic for my liking all the episodes are entertaining and I can only hope they hurry up and release the remaining seasons of this great show.

What a bargain from Amazon 22 episodes on six discs for £12-25 on region 2. to be honest with you all I am a big fan of the original black and white series of the Outer Limits which I watched as a kid and after a friend showed me an episode namely If these walls could talk, which is on this season 1 package, well I was hooked, There are a lot of fine efforts of great thrilling episodes that will surprise even the die-hards of the old series. Its an no brainer fabulous entertainment at a very low cost, works out at 50p per episode...you would be crazy to let this one get away.

5.0 out of 5 stars nostalgic 28 Jun 2012

I remember the original B&w Outer Limits and although I didn't watch too many of the episodes I remember them being quite thought provoking. I loved that season 1 (new series) is full of familiar film/tv stars, particularly Leonard Nimoy in I,Robot who is one of my favourites. Watching the new episodes has given me a craving for the originals, which I will pursue once i've collected all the new series. I enjoyed every episode and cant wait to get my hand on season 2.
