Book Description

10 Nov 2011
This book opens with the author's experience with the 'Lucid Light Stimulator' in Switzerland. This presents him with his first experience of 'astral travel'. From this he takes the reader on a historical, theological and mystical journey through the history of the out-of-body experience in all its varieties and forms. The second half of the book discusses the science behind the experience. It reviews some of the latest research in the fields of psychology, neurology and neuro-chemistry. It then attempts a short explanation of why quantum physics may be the unlikely source of answers to the mystery of the out-of-body experience. The final section presents the author's new model of how exotic-sounding concepts such as Bose-Einstein Condensates, Einstein Rosen Bridges, Zero-Point Energy, microtubules and coherent light can be used to present a totally new explanation of how Astral Travel really does involve a journey - into inner, not outer, space.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Disappointing 4 Feb 2013
By Lisa
Format:Paperback
I was very much looking forward to reading the latest (pretty much ONLY available recent mainstream book on the subject of OBEs) book of Anthony Peake's, as I'd heard through the grapevine that he was a man who wrote about these subjects with integrity. However, I was very disappointed with how he has basically rehashed (badly) most of the other OBE books that are available, such as Robert Monroe's and Susan Blackmore's. He's bagged the clever title, included the word 'science', and extracted all his information from other, reputable, sources. Then, he has reworked it into a book that is written so badly, he's actually contributed to undermining the entire subject! His tendency to over-complicate things and create his own names/terms for ancient concepts which have been discussed by man since before Aristotle was a boy, lends it a wishy-washy, unreliable air. This book does NOT provide answers or theories - just more questions. It is a shame that this is currently the leading title on the subject in the UK, so I would highly recommend that people save their pennies or spend them on other books on the topic. Even though the books may be 'older' in publication date, they remain relevant and predominant in modern parapsychological research on the topic of OBEs - books by Robert Monroe, Oliver Fox, Susan Blackmore, Janet Lee Mitchell, or even David Chalmers' book, 'The Conscious Mind'. However, seen as there aren't many people out there writing on the topic, good on him for having a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, though provoking read. 12 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
Astral projection, out of body experiences, call it what you will. Experiences of leaving the body are one of mans oldest anomalous experiences. Anthony takes the reader on a rollercoaster ride through the history of the subject before applying his own theories to astral projection - namely that quantum physics is involved with human consciousness. There are some really interesting and challenging ideas here, and this book is destined to become a modern classic. The sort of book I found difficult to put down once I started reading it, and have dipped into it several times again since I finished it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another look at the phenomena 22 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I almost didn't buy this book because of amazon feedbacks but I'm glad I did it.
The author goes through an interesting historic review of the phenomena and then tries to explain it by a quantum physics approach.
I do believe he is right in many of his ideias and this was the first book (of many) I've seen the phenomena "explained".
The writing is well structured and an easy reading.
I'm going to look for the other books of this author.
Warning: it is not a how-to book. If you are looking for one you'll be disappointed. It's more a review and "why" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly readable 22 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Anthony Peake offers a unique perspective on a phenomena that many experience but none can understand. He purposely avoids his own opinion and looks at the works of others over many years, and leaves it to the reader to form his or her conclusions. Very impressive.

1.0 out of 5 stars More inaccuracies from Anthony Peake 1 Feb 2012
Format:Paperback
Having read all of Anthony Peake's books I cannot understand why he contradicts himself not only between his books but also within the same book. He glosses over the serious flaws in his so called logic by trying to baffle the reader with name dropping all over the place. He fails to address major flaws in his theory of life simply being a 'matrix' style game whereby everyone (according to Peake) just lives the same life over and over and how this means his further ideas (vague badly written opinions) on NDE, lucid dreams and remote viewing simply do not make sense within his theory.

Again it features sections of rambling and little else and I do not understand why he feels the need to pad out the book with rephrasing of the same point over and over, is this some attempt to create fake deja vu in the reader for some reason? Or is it just bad writing on his part? The book is again heavily 'borrowed' from other people's work and if you really are interested in Lucid dreaming you would be far better advised to read the books of Stephen LeBerge Lucid Dreaming: A Concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life and you would be much better off reading the original works of Robert Monroe than Peakes opinions of him.Journeys Out of the Body

5.0 out of 5 stars The Peake Experience 27 Jan 2012
By Twinxy
Format:Paperback
Once again another fantastic book from Anthony Peake. This book is just 'my cup of tea', and as someone who has experienced many out of body experiences and journeys into other realities, i really think he has put forward an excellent explanation for this phenomenon.

I have read many many books on the subject, but none has given me the answer to what could be the possible cause of these spontaneous, enlightening and sometimes frightening events. Anthony Peake has as ever, researched every detail on this fascinating subject and brought it all together. It was another one of his books that i just couldn't put down, because there were these 'Oh my god that happens to me' and ' It all makes sense now ' moments that i just had to continue reading.

Out of body experiences are a taboo subject with many people because they fear a departure from their three dimensional world and normality / reality. OBEs are in fact more real than reality itself, If you have experienced OBEs and are looking for answers this is the book to read. Even if you have not, you should read this book because these events are becoming more talked about and experienced. I felt Anthony's writing style fully drew you in from page one and from then on it was like we were engaged in a conversation. It is a book that takes you from a beginning and end point so smoothly that you feel you have experienced a 'journey'
