A fabulously fun new twist on Noah's Ark by master storyteller, Lynley Dodd! The rain is fast approaching and Noah wants to set sail. This is a great story with strong rhythm and rhyme and the off-beat vocabulary that you would expect if you have come across Lynley Dodd's striking stories before. Noah's ark is full (of the animals you can find around the world today) so he asks a friend to bring the rest on a rather more dilapidated ark. These animals are not ones you'd be able to track down these days such as Kangaroosters, Butternut bears, Mongolian sneeth and elephant snails, and they are more evocative of Edward Lear than reality. I loved the idea that these were the animals that didn't make it through the flood, so I have to admit to being a little confused to seeing the water subsiding at the end of the story with the animals aboard an ark on dry land. I wonder if I have maybe missed the point along the way so I would rate this as a 4.5 star book rather than the full five. However, I still so much enjoy reading this fun and fast frolic through a bright variety of the animals that it is undeniably a very worthwhile and different addition to any child's bookshelf.

Love Lynley Dodd's stories! These books are great to read and to listen too. Everyone can enjoy these, from those listening to those learning to read! This one is a great twist and will give all a little chuckle!

very strange book, but enjoyed by my daughter and repeatly read at bedtimes years later. A little difficult to read if you lose the flow of the rhyme.

This is a great book for toddlers. The story is exciting and the strange animals are very entertaining. The pictures are bright and interesting creating much discussion about the weird creatures. It rhymes well and my little girl will shout out the words she knows are next. Well worth the money

Absolutely love reading this book to my grandchildren. Never get tired of it. Would recommend Lynley Dodd books to anyone. Wonderfully illustrated and terrific words. Fun to read and you can put a lot of expression into the words. Cannot wait to purchase some more of her books. I am beginning to keep a small 'library' at home for when they stay. I have a grand-daughter and grandson, both too young to read by far but I believe reading to them from an early age is really important. Hopefully electronic books will not take the place of reading a 'proper' book.
