For the first time ever, The Beau Hunks Band from Holland have decided to release an entire CD based on those wonderful Hal Roach stock themes, originally composed in 1930 by LeRoy B. Shield. The CD has many great themes on it from Shield and other Roach studio composer Marvin Hatley. Also on the CD you can listen to a few vocal numbers performed by the Hunks themselves, originally heard in the Laurel & Hardy films. Each theme is relativley short and only last up to 1-2 minutes in length on average but this is a very worthy CD and very delightful to listen too. I personally prefer the second volume of this CD released a year later, but this opening CD is still a great treat to listen too and let it be said - rare too, as those original themes of the 30's are now lost forever and overall listening to the Hunks is the only possible way we can now listen to those stock themes today.

You are reading this so you are already curious about this CD. Have absolutely no doubt, if you are of a certain age (probably 40s) having grown up with Laurel and Hardy films on TV, you will love this. Nearly all of the tracks will be familiar to you as they were the catchy tunes playing in the background as the comedy twosome got up to their mischief. This time, however, they are crystal clear in stereo having been painstakingly reproduced by Beau Hunks. They are listenable to in their own right, so even if you have been deprived of watching the films, you will enjoy the catchy nature of the music performed with absolute authenticity as a reproduction of the music styles of the 1930s. I personally prefer this CD to volume two as all the tracks (except perhaps two) are recognisable from the films and do not sound like cartoon soundtracks (without the clangs and bangs) that volume two tends to resemble. Absolutely brilliant stuff and you will not be disappointed if you bought this CD.
