This is the most delectable, elegant disco music, better than most of today's House. Sylvester had a strong and expressive falsetto voice that is carried along on the most infectious dance beats. One could say he was the Smokey Robinson of the disco era. In the late 70s he was as popular as Donna Summer and ruled the dance charts. The classic tracks here include Dance (Disco Heat), You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) and Stars. This album is not complete, as Sylvester had a couple of other hits too, like I Who Have Nothing. But this is still a satisfying collction of very melodic, hypnotic music that works well for listening and on the dancefloor.

This is Sylvester at his best. This CD contains the 'early' material, before Sylvester moved over to Megatone Records, and commenced recording for them. His biggest hit, 'You make me feel mighty real' is included on this album, which follows the introduction track 'dance (disco heat)'. By the time these two tracks have completed playing, it is impossible to keep still, and a feeling of happiness, and being carefree develops.

The track 'body strong' is as good as the opening two tracks, with 'stars' being a less dramatic track to the opening two, but still highly enjoyable.

The CD moves towards a more mellow Sylvester, with 'cry me a river' and allows Sylvester to show that he's more than a disco singer, but has a lot of powerful soul in his voice.

The CD closes with 'you are my friend' which is so poignant, as Sylvester's philosophy on life, was that everyone who enjoyed his music was his friend. Sadly, Sylvester's life ended so abrupty in December 1988. But he has left us a wonderful legacy of music, and this CD contains some - but not all - of his superb ability to entertain with that magical voice.

No impressed, sent straight back. Part way through, one track started before the previous one had ended - and I don't mean it was 'mixed'. Sounded like it was taped over the top of it. Not very good quality at all.

love him or hate him - there will only be one Sylvester
and this is one of the best - big on the gay scene in the usa
a larger than life guy with a voice that could rock an audience

this is for anyone wishing to re-live an era that is said to be one of the worst in music history - i disagree Sylvester
was at the beginning of disco - now dance - he just had to walk into a place, sing, and the place would pulse
